When you start taking money out of your municipal budget allocated to fire, police, and sewer in order to keep a hockey team, I think it's time for the team to move.

Easy fix. Any player who signed a contract to play in Arizona is given a one chance release of contract. They immediately become UFA forfeiting any future salary and bonuses, and the franchise gets a 25% salary cap hit. Or they can move with the team at their current contract. and get a 1 year NMC safety net.

Then they do an auxilliary expansion type draft, and any other team that signs one of the former Arizona UFAs is exempt from having a player selected in the aux draft, or at the worst can lose a 2-way contract.

Seems easy enough to me, but I am on painkillers.

Yeah, it's gotta be tough for the players and their families. However, not nearly as tough as for ushers, concession staff, security people etc. for the Coyotes who were likely counting on this job to supplement their income and likely are living paycheque to paycheque.

Sorry I have no sympathy for anyone making a minimum of $800,000 and is “forced” to move to Utah. I have visited there several times and it ain’t that bad. You would think they were being sent at gunpoint to Gaza or somewhere. And let’s be honest, AZ wasn’t exactly a selling point for free agents in the past anyway.

The abruptness is also bogus. Players get traded with no notice and aren’t given an out. Why should this be any different?

Like most life events, once the shock wears off, this will blow over.

I went skiing at Snowbird in early April (right about this time of year) with the wife and it was beautiful. I haven't spent a lot of time in Salt Lake City, but if you like doing outdoor stuff (mountain biking, hiking, fishing, or the aforementioned skiing, you'd be hard pressed to find more options to do that than in the SLC area).

I’ve been to Park City and the Winter Olympics had some events there when SLC hosted. It was the summer so no snow. Bus tour to bobsled run where you could go down with wheels on sled. Then to the top of the ski jump. I could not believe how high and steep it was looking down the ramp. Those jumpers must be crazy. The zip line was also up there and it’s a long way down. SLC is nice to look at, but not sure about living there.

To quote Cypress Hill: "It's a fun job, but it's still a job".

Company I used to work for bought a competitor and closed the old HQ. They did the right thing and offered relocation perks to move to Columbus. And those that didn't want to were given some perks too. I'm just thinking of it like a job like that.

Plus I want the current franchise punished for dragging this shit out so long.


And possibly to get Nick Schmaltz in Columbus.
