Where Culliver got beat was at the line not on the route. A little better jam at the LOS and Culliver is with Colston stride for stride. If a QB has to throw perfect passes to beat our corners - then we have some pretty darn good CB's and nothing to worry about.

we too easily slot Hunter as a scatback, simply because of his size.

while i'm not claiming he's a "big back", IMO he's closer to a an every down back, than 3rd downer.

Perhaps he is our version of Joe Morris - only better

I'm a big Smith supporter, obviously, and I believe Alex will secure his spot by improved play this year. Having said that, this guy is quiiiiiick to his assumptions and likes to stretch what Alex said. He claims that Alex's comments suggested something that made it clear that Kaepernick's future is elsewhere.

http://www.rgj.com/article/20120708/COL0301/307080056/1018

“Colin, since he got here, has worked extremely hard,” Smith said. “He’s a great kid, great physical tools. He can really throw it,” Smith added. “… I’ve never had a problem with his accuracy. I’m not sure where that came up. I’m not sure how some things get reported. The beat writer is there only one day a week in the spring.”

Then the author, not Smith, went on to conclude, from that quote, that:

But this much appears clear. If Kaepernick is going to get a chance to play in the NFL, it’s looking less and less likely that it’s going to be with the 49ers. The training he’s getting under coach Jim Harbaugh, a quarterback coach at heart, will only help him. But his future is elsewhere.

Does anyone know about this website/journal? Is it usually good, but this is off? Is it usually bad? Or is he right? I think he's just trying to :ss:.

If Baalke got it right then it's time for our coaches, trainers and Jenkins to step-up. I don't think Jed will be very happy with a multi-million dollar player polishing the pine...

yep, while i don't expect Jenkins to get a lot of reps, it'll be dissapointing if he rides pine all season. i'd think 2-3 reps a game is reasonable, then go from there?

I know there are a few factors that influence the number of reps a non-starting WR might see, but I certainly hope Jenkins sees more than 2-3/game. I fully expect eclipse the 1025 play benchmark in 2012 and getting in on just 10% of those would put him at slightly over 100 or ~6/gm.

Speaking strictly from an investment standpoint, at ~10% of the plays Jenkins would earn ~$35,000.00 per play. By contrast Bowman earned ~$775.00 per play last year.

if Jenkins gets more than 2-3/game better yet, cause this would indicate he's making good progress.

i went with 2-3 because we now have good vets ahead of him. we should lean on these other experienced receivers first.

He should get 2-3 blocking assignments per game in my estimation and perhaps an additional 1-3 targets as well. At least that is what I would hope for/expect.
