na, i don't need to do it this year. i already expressed my belief he's not starter material and we should have sold high when other teams were rumored to be interested. his 2 run, 25 pitch 1st inning is just him picking up from last year.

if you all want to keep mocking it, rock on. we all know when he hits rock bottom, the same "what a stupid trade" and "we should have traded him while we could" bullshit will pop up.

You may be right, but I question a lot of those "teams rumored to be interested in him". I'm pretty sure other teams are aware of the risk involved with a guy like Velasquez

agreed. the cheap years and closer potential is definitely enough to limit hardcore risk though. the phils should have slotted him for the closer role this season. his iffy control combined with the lack of in play contact just leads to continual deep counts and random free passes. maybe they decide that at some point this year.

Velasquez reminds me way too much of Robbie Ray. Dbacks starter. Both aren't starters IMO, because both can never pitch deep into games

however, both have pretty amazing K rates. IMO, both would be better off suited for their respective teams closer roles. Having high strikeout numbers at season looks pretty on the back of a baseball card, but when you destroy your bullpen, it hardly matters. When your constantly putting your team in a hole early in games, it hardly matters
