Well, as long as the committee has no coherent criteria, that's the result that magically seems to happen every time.

Playoff expansion and protected spots for conference champions for the power conferences + 1 G5 was always the way to go, imo.

The committee has mentioned CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS as probably their #1 consistent thing.
They have not always been consistent on many things, but they have been mostly consistent on champs being a real consideration.

A team gets bonus poll points consideration if they are conference champs.
It is pretty clear that was what put FSU above Georgia.

FSU should be above Georgia because that is arguably the only mostly consistent thing they have ever done since 2014.
Whether they should be above Alabama is very debatable.

Trying to create some conspiracy about the weird positioning of Alabama-FSU-Georgia is just silly.
That one is easy to explain.

Here is a legitimate question: if Georgia would have beat Alabama in the championship game, then would FSU been chosen over Texas? The committee's top for teams would have all won.

Yes. The goal of the committee yesterday was to get an SEC team in. With Georgia in, mission accomplished (deservedly so in that scenario)… We’d have had four undefeated conference champions which would have been a tremendous way to close out the 4 team playoff era….
