That's our Ground Chuck. Only 85 pitches through 7, 16 ground ball outs, no walks.

Agreed. He could really solidify the back end of this rotation.

I think one of Locke/Worley could be good. Asking them both to be worthy of being in the rotation is a tall order.

Lots of hard-hit balls for the Bucs so far in the first.

Kang jumps on the first pitch fastball and puts the Bucs up 1-0 with a sharp single to center.

That dude can hit.

Its really hard to believe he can hit this well for what we paid for him.

We are really getting right hand heavy with him establishing himself.

He was such an unknown, coming from a league for which there's no context for the transition. That drove his price down. But getting the term they did at the low "unknown factor" cost was brilliant.

The Bucs are on that 4-seam heater, but they don't look ready for the slower offering. They probably look the same out of Urena's hand, but there's a solid 5 ticks of velocity difference between the two.

Harrison keeps that theme going, smoking a 4-seamer into the right-center field gap to bring Mercer around from first.

Walker jumped on the 2-seamer and hits a 2-run opposite-field home run!

Really taking advantage of the rookie pitcher.

I love Jung-Ho Kang. Great hustle out of the box to stretch that hit into a double.

Alvarez with a nice piece of opposite-field hitting to get Marte across. He's hit well again today, two hard outs and a good approach against the shift to get the run home in the third appearance.

Didn't last as long as we would have liked, I think, but Locke held it together despite some trouble and will exit after 5 2/3 with a 5-0 lead. That's the kind of outing you like to see from the #5 man.

Hughes closes the book on Locke. 5.2 IP 4 H 0 R 4 BB 6K

The walks cost him innings, but he didn't let them cost him runs.

Why not use your best reliever in the game's highest leverage situation? This is why bullpen roles are more harm than good.

But, hey, I'll take the benefit of poor bullpen management!
