Both are great coaches and good recruiters IMO. Out of the two, Strong is obviously more realistic IMO than Stoops is. Strong has great ties to the Southeast and in Florida for recruiting. It would be a shift away from their usual Texas recruiting, but it may be a good plan for Nebraska. They'll still get some midwest kids regardless.

Excellent point about the recruiting ties. If Stoops can bring kids to Norman, Strong could bring kids to Lincoln. Not only would he be able to use his SE ties, but he could retain their inroads in Texas and likely further develop some inroads into Ohio and Pennsylvania that he's worked on at Louisville. Seems like a pretty good choice.

Why would Strong leave Louisville?

Louisville invests in the program (Papa John's money) and will be playing in the ACC next season so they'll keep their AQ. He's already established there and the ****** looks bright.

Why is fut.ure censored? Mods -- WTF? You can't spell the word without putting a '.' in the middle.

Also, while Louisville is a nice spot, it's not a major landing spot. Nebraska still has the advantage in terms of tradition, fanbase, and pretty much everything else to be honest. Louisville appreciates him, but they're a basketball school. In Nebraska, he'd be an unquestioned legend if he could restore the program.

This is true of any coach at Nebraska.

Oh for sure, I'm just saying that would be another part of the allure, to go along with the other benefits over Louisville.

So you're saying that us beating you 9 times out of 10 had NOTHING to do with why you left?
It had absolutely nothing to do with it. Nebraska had been trying to get into the Big Ten as far back as the Devaney days. Not to mention the $$$ benefit and academic benefit. Put your ego to bed, troll.

There's coaches out there who could turn Nebraska around, but they're going to have to tske the risk instead of accepting Pelini. And they need someone who can still dig into Texas and Cali. It's crowded in the east.

Hard to get Texas kids when you don't play ANY games in Texas. They've got to make some scheduling changes.....their Texas pipeline all but dried up when they left the B12. Some kids even transferred out after that from Texas. I would suspect Cali kids are much the same, but I don't know for certain.

that's exactly what i'm saying. the world does not revolve around austin.

Here's why I don't believe you....

Money.

Had you dominated the Big 12 as you thought you were going to, it would have meant more national championships and therefore more money.

But with us beating you like a rented mule 90% of the time, it shot your goal of a national championship in the ass. So you went to the Big 10 where you thought you'd have a better shot.

But that hasn't quite worked out either.

Maybe if you joined the WAC? :noidea:

Uhh... you sure about that?

2014: 3* CB Trai Mosley (Pflugerville, TX) - offer from OU
2013: 4* RB Adam Taylor (Katy, TX) - offers from Baylor, LSU, OU, Stanford
2013: 3* OG Dwayne Johnson (Bellaire, TX) - offers from Arkansas and OU
2013: 3* DE Dimarya Mixon (Mesquite, TX) - offers from Baylor, Kansas State, Oklahoma, WVU
2012: 4* QB Tommy Armstrong (Cibolo, TX) - offers from Baylor, TCU, Texas Tech, Oregon
2012: 3* DT Aaron Curry (Keller, TX) - offers from Baylor, Oregon, TCU, Texas A&M
2011: 5* CB Charles Jackson (Klein, TX) - offers from Arkansas, Florida, OU, Texas A&M
2011: 4* QB/WR Jamal Turner (Arlington, TX) - offers from Baylor, OU, OK State, TCU, Texas A&M

This also doesn't count several other high profile kids they got from the west coast in the same timeframe. Good recruiting is gonna get kids regardless. Their TX pipeline has certainly not dried up.

yes it has. The only player on that list that anybody REALLY wanted was Adam Taylor. I've seen most of these kids play in HS. They aren't getting great talent out of Texas. The offer lists really aren't impressive either, when you're competing with Baylor and Tech for a recruit.

Nebraska has gotten away, for whatever reason, from recruiting Texas. Maybe they know they cant get top flight talent now, who knows. 2 years ago a quarter of their recruits were from Texas, but these last 2 year's its been at 12% and 13% percent. Maybe they are trying to get that back for 2014 as 37% of their current recruits are from Texas. Either way I think its going to be tough for them to get back to what they previously were. They don't really have a foothold on any region anymore and Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas and Missouri just don't produce high end level players consistently. It will be tough for them to make inroads in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana, at least to get the top 300 type of players.

They need a coach who can make progress in Texas or the Southeast IMO.

I'll say it again.....none of those guys were highly coveted, or even considered top 10 at their position outside of Adam Taylor. Most ranking sites have these guys as run of the mill players.

Nebraska CLEARLY isn't pulling in great Texas talent, and hasn't for a while now. Listing a few guys here and there does not really prove anything.

Look at their title teams, and the makeup of those rosters, then come here and tell us they're still recruiting Texas well.
