Whatever. I think it was reasonable for me to assume that you were implying...

You guys never played each other in your primes. The Huskers were as mediocre as Texas was most of those seasons. You didn't play them in 97, or the best year they had with Crouch. IMO it was the rivalry that never happened due to shitty timing.

Perhaps. But they got no excuses for 2010

I don't see it that way. ND's got modern quality wins, an undefeated regular season, BCS, and NC appearances.

The programs are going different directions.

There is no excuse for anything Bill Callahan or Bo Pelini have done.

The question is, how do you fix it?

You fire Bo Pelini, then what? Whom do you get to replace him? What adjustments do you make to the program? Do you fire anyone else like the OC or DC as well?

The same goes for Mack Brown, however, one coaching change made a world of difference for your defense. Our BOzo wouldn't make that change if his job was on the line - which it is. Hell, he played a 20-30% healthy QB in front of Nebraska's top money donors in Minnesota. We simply don't know if it is Bo's stupidity, stubbornness, incompetence, or all of the above...

There are several recent examples of formerly good, currently slumping programs that switched HCs and bounced back fast. Look at Texas A&M, Auburn, Notre Dame, Florida State, Michigan, Stanford, Louisville, etc.

Nebraska still has a fantastic stadium, an incredibly rabid fanbase, incredible tradition, and terrific facilities. If they can bring in a young, energetic, talented coach to breathe some life back into that program, hopefully starting in 2014, there's no reason to think they can't become a contender again in the next few years.

The trouble is that Nebraska's days of recruiting on par with the national powers are over and have been over for some time.

I don't know much about what's wrong with the program at UNL. I only know that the fans hate the HC and blame him. Do they blame the OC or DC as well?

What HC do they need not named Bob Stoops or Nick Saban that would get them back on track?

No, we don't. i think what he is saying though is that it is stupid to say Nebraska "ran" from Texas to the B1G. no matter how much Texas fans tell themselves that, it doesn't make it true.

So you're saying that us beating you 9 times out of 10 had NOTHING to do with why you left?

Stoops isn't gonna help them. He's probably the opposite of what they need. They need a young, energetic, up and coming head coach with potential, not a washed up, former big time coach who hasn't won on the big stage in years.

I think there are a variety of young coaches who would easily consider UNL a step up from their current spots. Charlie Strong comes to mind, for one. I think it'd be appealing to Sumlin, as well. There are probably many others, as well.

Stoops and Strong are the same age.

Of course, he's a hot coach now, and his name will come up everywhere, so guess he could be linked to Nebraska.

I'll be damned, I did not know that. I assumed Strong was younger due to his experience. At any rate, he does seem to be the better coach right now. OU has more talent than most teams in the nation, yet Strong is the one winning in the BCS. As far as potential goes, I'd still give the edge to Strong, as well.

Both are great coaches and good recruiters IMO. Out of the two, Strong is obviously more realistic IMO than Stoops is. Strong has great ties to the Southeast and in Florida for recruiting. It would be a shift away from their usual Texas recruiting, but it may be a good plan for Nebraska. They'll still get some midwest kids regardless.
