The defense was very bad. Could not stop Allen or Greene. Woodhead and Gordon didn't dominate via rushing, but they ran less and less as it became obvious we couldn't stop the pass on account of zero pass rush.

Makes me kinda glad that I missed the game.. The Chargers aren't no slouch team. Dare I say it but I think Rivers is better than the gunslinger. jmho

My take...why don't they ever drag Calvin across the field? They have bracket coverage on him. Makes no sense. Why not more screens? Pass D was godawful...Allen wide open the whole 2nd half. Bad bad playcalling on both sides. Stafford iced the cake with a terrible INT and some badly missed throws. I didn't think the playcalling helped him though, nor did the badly missed blocking assignments. And why, when the offense is struggling don't they go no huddle?

I dont know what to tell ya!

Oh, Im sure Minnesota is going to dial up at least 400 yards worth of drag routes too......on Mathis
Charles Johnson, 60Minutes and Rudolph will gives us fits. Then there's that old guy that's gonna give us a beating fit for a four year olds nutsack.

I like Minny offense more than I do SD's tbh. Especially the backfield. AP, McKinnon and Asiata is a nice trio, they all being something different.

Linehan is calling a nice opening drive.

Miss saying that and caring.

It's not so bad when Calvin's one-on-one, but I can recall Calvin leading the Defense right to the ball carrier.

Most of the game it was bracket. Corner in press, Safety directly over top at 10 yards. You attack that by drags and crosses.

Lombardi took a top 5, pass blocking O-line and turned them into bottom 5, in an instant.

Are we talkin' Lions football or common sense? It seems all we can do is... insert a Dennis Green meltdown here.

Rivers figured out that nobody can handle Greene.

Our defense is not only not good, it's bad. Was fun while it lasted though.

I mentioned he was not a bad replacement other day. Was he a beast, or just had a decent game?

We had no one who could cover him. Not sure if that's to his credit or our discredit.

I was surprised Rivers didn't pass to him more tbh. But with Allen having his own Zip code to work with, there wasn't much of a reason. (Greene is a damn good player, gates may not steal his thunder when he returns. Thought he'd take over last year, I was wrong.)

That's a lot of reading.

I bet there weren't 5 Game Threads with this many posts last year.

Tells me two things:
1) a lot of optimism from the fan base this year.

2) a lot of disappointment with the bed shitting we witnessed.

I'm still not picking on Stafford yet. Stats don't tell the story sometimes... Or do they?

My optimism was for the offense this year. Should I wear a depends this evening?

The Chargers' 483 total yards today were the most by the team on opening day since a 500-yard effort against Miami on 9/7/1986. #DETvsSD

He looked like dog shit. In his defense, he got absolutely mowed down a couple of times thanks to Lombardi leaving him hanging out to dry.

I'd sleep on a shower curtain if it was the offense you were hoping on.

This loss wasn't on Staff imo. But he didn't help. (First pick might have been a fumble, didn't matter, but he got absolutely blasted. Second one was him being him. Third one didn't happen, but was a Tate drop even though the stats won't say it was. Only got to Weddle via Tate's hands.)
