Saw that. I mean... It makes sense if you look at the contract numbers. We forget the Steelers wanted to retain Bell and offered him a lot of money. Still, the trade talks died after Conner's injury was declared week to week.

Trading for Bell would still have meant getting him cheaper than they originally offered. $21m in guarantees is still $12m LESS than the Steelers would have given him for the first 2 years under contract (reportedly would have been $33m). I know it wasn't considered "guaranteed" from the Steelers but shmantics. But the bigger thing is the post-2020 "OUT" in his contract. Given his usage it would be unwise to be saddled with his contract for longer than 2 years.

I agree . I just wasn’t buying the BS notion. There was no reason to lie there

He can cry into all the guaranteed money that the Jets gave him.

Which probably doesn't get paid out and effectively results in less earnings for Bell than if he signed here. So the missed money in his franchise holdout year.

But still, he's a well paid man.

Just another cautionary tale in a long list of players who left Pitt and realized they made a mistake.

It’s going to be fun watching the Jets take the out in his contract after 2020 season. He’ll be another 30 year old FA RB on the market

Yes he is, but when he made it all about the money...re-setting the RB pay scale, etc. It had to be deflating to sign for less than Gurley and will be even more deflating when the Jets release him after next season.

The guy I was most upset about leaving was Rod Woodson....Sanders left with respect and went on to have a good career in DEN...who knows, may find himself in the SB this yr.

I might be dreaming here but isn't the elevated number of PED/drug tests part of the punishment for being caught and suspended for drugs in the past?

I get it, this is PED testing not pot, but that's usually how it works. Get busted, you get more tests.

I was under the impression that a piss test looks for all the above. Maybe the NFL is just saying its a PED test but hoping they catch him for pot? Or maybe Bell is just too illiterate to tell the difference?

It's my understanding that Bell is objecting to Blood Tests, which will detect PEDs quite easily, only are of limited use (less time at detection since using) for pot than a piss test.

Thanks for the correction. Wasn't sure if there was a difference.

Bell has 557 yards in 173 carries; that is 3.2 yds /carry with 3 TDs
James Connor has 390 yards in 102 carries for 3.8 yds /carry with 4 TDs and he has been hurt a lot.
nice career move Bell!

Bell got 32 yds on 10 carries...keeping his 3.2YPC average. AND the Jest got embarrassed by the Bungles (previously win less Bungles that is)

Yep...only I don't think Bell really cares....now that he has the big check.

IMO...the minute he said he wanted to be paid like a WR2 AND a RB1...he stopped caring about the team.

Week 16 he may care a little more...hopefully our boys handle their biz in the Meadowlands.
