What do you think of folks who let NFL losses ruin their days/weeks?

Granted I'm a Vikings fan, so I'm very used to them losing big games, heartbreak years, and mediocre years. Decades of that conditioning has made it almost impossible for me to really care that much anymore whether they win or lose any given game. Truth be told, I think this becomes the norm of thinking for most Vikes fans by the time they hit their 30's, if not sooner.

In any case, I don't understand how a lot of grown adults in their 30's and beyond still get really emotional over losses. The players make endless boatloads of money, the ownership and league as a whole make even more. None of those players actually care about the fans, nor should fans care a whole lot about them. It's an entertainment business, which the players understand. It's good entertainment, and should be enjoyed by those who like it. I'm not saying anything against that. But when I hear grown men IRL whining and talking about the NFL/their favorite teams as if they're some low level exec wannabe of a team or something, letting losses/team decisions they dislike/etc. get them super wound up on an almost personal level... yeah, that's weird to me.

I knew a few Vikings fans, you guys are cool.
Being waiting so long. Some teams get all the breaks …

Best of luck, whatever that is.

I think it depends on how competetive of a person you are. I hate losing at anything. I was a pretty decent athlete playing four sports. But for the life of me, I can't play golf to save my ass. No one defends you, that stupid little white ball isn't moving when you hit it... but it frustrates the hell out of me. OK enough about me.

I also think the community you grow up in has an affect. Some cities just have more passionate sport fans. Part of that may be those cities are also more fast paced/high strung. Boston, NY, Chicago all come to mind as these cities have teams playing all four of the major sports.

I've been lucky to spend time in most of the country and around the world. Maybe the only more passionate fans are some of those lunatics in Europe when it comes to watching their soccer/football teams.

People are quite passionate. That's totally fine! People work too hard for me to judge what people find joy in, there's precious little to actually enjoy. If that's sports, why the fuck not let them?

If I’m ever too mature to wear a jersey and be pissed off the Lions lose, shoot me.

No interest in living my life that way.

As long as the Broncos are winning, I don't let it ruin my day/week. My emotions are kept in check. Super simple. If for some odd reason they are losing, I just pretend that it's 2015 and PFM is leading them to a championship. I also see UFO's and get abducted at least once per month.

Hawkeyes can ruin my weekend, and I know that's dumb. Vikings after all these years I'm kinda meh.

We Bears fans are a hearty bunch. If we let losses ruin our days, we'd probably be leading the world in suicide rates.

Depends on my expectations. Like you mention. Its hard for me to get too upset about Mizzou generally but the Cardinals and Chiefs season ending poorly ruins my day.

To me it's not so much the loss, it's how the loss occurred. It's one thing to be beat, it's another to give a game away by being stupid. By stupid I mean dumb penalties, turnovers that don't or shouldn't happen, just doing stupid stuff that makes no sense. Granted you can look at it as the other team made the plays and took advantage of their opportunities, but when there is no reason the present the opportunities other than stupidity or lack of focus, then I'm usually very disappointed.

I had many years of triumph with the Patriots, just like I had many years od disappointment with the Patriots, and doubt I'll ever see them rise again.

I was a Mets fan back in the Stengal years, when I got used to the Wait Till Next Year signs on Day 1 every season.

I thought I'd put it behind me decades ago. But this year's NFC championship loss was a kick in the nuts and resulted in the first time I wasn't really looking forward to the Super Bowl. I really wasn't expecting much going into the game but when it became clear that the Niners were not the obviously better team that made it much harder to take.

Does it really ruin your day? Honest question.
Tip: Get over a loss or win and keep going

Takes me like 5 minutes to process a Pats loss and say wtf. There seem to be more on the horizon.

Not really but I can tell I'm more on edge.

I think there are studies out there where playoffs take a toll on many fans health win or lose.

Good to know, and yes there are some fans whom take a loss rather seriously.
