when it comes to kevin love i think everyone outside of curry should be available for trade in this league its all about all stars and unlike most teams i think kevin love would actually want to stay and sign an extension. with 2 all stars on your roster B rate players will come and play for golden state and take less money. Look at the clippers their entire bench is full of players that are on 1 year deals trying to get a ring

Mychal Thompson, Klay's father, says his sources say that he hears Kevin Love and Kevin Martin to GS for David Lee, Klay Thompson and a future 1st. Salaries don't quite match but if this trade happened the Warriors would like either have to include a few throw-ins like Nedo or make two trades, one of which would be Kevin Martin for the trade exception the Warriors have.

I would hate to see Klay go, but I don't think I could say no to this.

I would have a starting lineup of Bogut, Love, Barnes, Iguodala and Curry. Bring KMart and Draymond off the bench. Need to get a backup PG and a back up 4 and we'd be looking very good.

Other scuttlebutt out there suggests that the Ws really really don't want to deal Klay so Love ends up in Boston

Marc Spears has said that Klay is seeking a near max extension. If that's the case, the Warriors would be more likely to want to include him in any deal if they can't sign him for a reasonable extension. His value is the highest right now because he hasn't signed an extension and no one really knows what sort of salary figures they may be looking at in the future. 4 years 40M? 4 years 60M? Huge difference.

They may not have wanted to include him initially, but if he's really intent on making big money, the Warriors might have to move him.

Saw that and no way that can be accurate. If that happens Bob Myers can be inducted into the hall of fame right now.

ESPN just said the proposed trade is now Love and Barea for Klay and Lee. Too bad its not Harrison but you gotta give something to get something

Like most of you, we love Klay, but I think this deal make some sense. Klay will want max money, and I don't think we can afford it. Basically, we trade Klay for Love. A good #2 for a legit #4, everyone would do this in a heartbeat. I just hope that Love would take 15 per year so we can bring in other players like the Spurs.

This would be a steal not quite a rip off but close. David Lee not a bad player. Oft injured. Not a go to guy really. Not much difference in him and pau gasol. This is more about timber wolves not having Many better options then being some great deal

It might be a mistake for the Ws to mess with their new found defensive strength. Defense wins championships, at least having good defense (doesn't have to be great). They've been pretty bad defensively for almost all of the last 25+ years.

You can't outscore everyone to a title, sometimes you gotta stop the other guy.

Will Kerr and his team be able to get as good of defensive results from Bogut-Curry-Barnes-Love-Iguodala?

Possibly so, Bogut and Iggy are elite defenders, the rest can be made to work with a system. They'll need serious defensive chops off the bench.

I think we'll be fine defensively. You mentioned Bogut and Iggy. We also have Green who's a tenacious defender, and Barnes, IMO, has the potential to be a very capable defender himself. Festus Ezeli should provide some muscle off the bench as well.

Everyone jumped down my throat when I said to not be surprised if we gave up Klay, or that I thought it was a decent option.

I think you go get Sefolosha for the vet minimum and you'll be fine on the defensive side. You probably need to pickup a pure shooter off the bench though. Someone like Morrow. Anyone know Brandon Rush's status?

I'm not surprised that they'll trade Klay, and we really don't know the totality of the trade, so it's hard to pass judgment, but via league pass I've watched Kevin Love play many games and I don't think he's the difference maker most Warriors fans think he is. I'll wait to pass final judgment though until a trade actually happens. I don't think Klay is as easily replaced as you make him out to be, and the fact that he's as good as he is, could be working against him as he isn't going to be resigned on the cheap. The Warriors are certainly factoring this into their trade considerations.

I think the biggest part of acquiring a player like Love is the fact that he can command an offense by himself. We've seen him do so for a few years with the Wolves. He can be a focal, central part of the offense and create for himself and others. While I like Klay, and even like what David Lee brings offensively, neither of those guys are reliable in the sense that you can trust them when you give them the keys to the car.

Klay, in my opinion is a top 3 SG in the NBA. That said, he's best in an ancillary capacity on an NBA team. We've seen what happens when teams bog down on Curry. The offense comes to a grinding halt. On top of that Curry's usage rate was much higher than it should be (also problem with the system that was in place), but having another guy who can take over has the potential to put the Warriors over the top.

Defensively is where we'll miss Klay the most. That's the part that would worry me the most about any trade involving Klay. I think the best way to look at this trade is that it's exponentially easier to find another guard to pair with Curry, than a 4 who can do the things Love can do opposite Bogut. Not saying that you'll find another guard who can duplicate what Klay does, but finding a poor man's Klay is simpler than finding an Elite 4.

Ugh. These trade talks involving Klay actually give me a sick feeling in my stomach. :puke:

I'd rather not trade Klay, dump David Lee however possible, and tell Minny to fuck off with their ridiculous demands, but only if Klay will stay around.

But hasn't Curry threatened a bitchfit if Golden State trades Klay? I'm pretty sure that after "Master Game Planner" Mark Jackson was shown the door that Curry was saying he wasn't sure if he'd want to stay around if they dumped Klay, too.

7th pick for Klay, that would be a steal for LAL. According to ESPN, both Kerr and the great West do not want to include Klay in the trade.
