Game Thread: GDT: Saturday Night, Devils/Rangers

Both teams playing badly to open season. Desperately need a win. Return home, people will be thinking about whatever shit goal song they try to push on us. Peter Deboer's last stand? I think so.

Going to be an intense game.

Apparently MC didn't get the memo about a new person starting the GDT. Now there is absolutely no chance that we beat the Rangers, it's impossible.

I think the Devils need this game more than the Rangers. Also the Rangers are going to be without Nash & Callahan. Good opportunity for the Devils to get their 1st win of the season IMO.

I did miss the memo, but too late to think about that. I'm not a believer in GDT curses anyway.

If Callahan and Nash aren't playing and we lose this game, PDB has got to go. I don't even really think it's his fault, but you have to do something. It's not like we can let the team gel and get a high pick, then rebound quickly, which seems to be more and more common in the NHL these days.

Also, another thing.

Gelinas 1G, 1A in 4 Games so far had NINE shots on goal in tonight's Albany 2-1 loss.
He has 16 shots in 4 games which is 5 more than Zids (our leading defensive shooter) has in 7 GP.

Merrill 4A +2 in 4 Games so far. Is it time to bring these two up and dump a couple of the other dmen for literally anything...

Maybe letting them play out the year down there as our top dmen is the better choice long term. How long until the season is potentially lost?

The John MacLean year, I made a post when the Devils got 7 of their first 20 potential points saying how only one team ever made the playoffs with that bad of a start. We're in serious danger of getting into that range.

Kind of hard to say, but I think tonight is a must win for this team.

I know it's only the 8th game of the season, but this team needs a confidence booster.

Team lacks an identity right now. If Zajac and Henrique continue to be no shows, the Devs will have a serious problem going forward

Its the Rags, they aren't getting 3 goals.

I'm worried about any errors with rosters that would disqualify the Devils, or possibly a power outage. since that is likely to happen with how good this team is at picking up L's

Vigneault's system does not work for them at all.

How is Kreider not playing for them either?

I wonder if he's just another overrated NY prospect that will never pan out.
