If any of you East Coasters get a chance to sample Highland Brewing's Little Hump seasonal, it is pretty good.

Never seen that one, but I like the rest of their lineup. Asheville's got quite the micro scene lately, one of the best places this side of the River for good craft beers.

What is the fascination with IPA's? I can't imagine anyone likes hops so much they want their beer to taste like a bouquet of flowers.

I agree. I much prefer a smooth, full lager or a dark or a hefewiesen to a bitter, skunk ass IPA.

I like all beer but really enjoying the vast Ipa's right now. Most people either like a lot of hops or a lot of malts. Lagers, wheats, stouts, porters all have a lot of malt. Ipa and ales are hoppy. I like them both for what they are. Boston Lager has a good blend of both.

Original Session, with the bright red label, is a classic all-malt pre-Prohibition style lager that reminds us of what American lagers used to taste like. It's flavorful, refreshing, and has a touch of that import-style taste. (Which, once upon a time, you didn't have to buy an "import" to get.) Oh, and it comes in a stubby, 11-oz bottle like your grandpa used to buy. So after your next session (surf, jam, gab, whatever), crack open a Session and drink to the good old new days.

Named World's Best Premium Lager at the World Beer Awards and winner of a slew of other shiny trophies, Session has truly earned itself a place at the bar. Not to mention the barbeque.
ABV 5.1% IBU 18

Session Lager is available in 6-packs, 12-packs and on draft.
AWARDS:

Our stubby little Session lager has brought home some big awards including 13 gold medals.

Romeo, I prefer darkities to hop-bombs, but I would assume they are more popular with some folks because of the higher alcohol content. Kinda like how "Ice" beers had a good run a few years back, even though most of them sucked. "They'll git ya fucked up!"

There's gotta be some mathematical formula on how drunk one wants to get vs how much money to spend/beers to consume.

But I've never drank any hop-bombs that smelled, to me, like a "bouquet." Not sure you understand what hops actually are?

3 New Belgium beers I'm NOT impressed with
Summer Helles
Spring Blond
Snapshot

Had to try them, but I'm not a fan. All very light and not fart producing.

Oh c'mon now. Snapshot has to be one of the better Wheat beers I've ever had. Now, granted, Wheat beers aren't high on my go to list, but if I have to have one, Snapshot would be THE one I would drink.

Thanks for the shout out. Yes, I am really really REALLY enjoying living in Asheville, as the beer scene is terrific and growing. Sierra Nevada grand opening in August and New Belgium by 2015. Somewhere sandwiched in there will be Catawba Brewing as well, to go along with the 15 other breweries.

Really liking Shiner's White Wing Belgian Ale. Their Ruby Redbird is okay, the kind of thing you get every once in awhile in a bar but don't bother to buy a pack of in the store. Both very good summer beers though.

i dont remember what thread we were talking about the Sierra Nevada IPA variety pack. Found it and picked one up over the weekend. So far i've only had the Torpedo (which i drink all the time anyways) and the Nooner Session IPA.

Enjoyed the Nooner, good for after mowing the yard en sech

I tried the Shiner white belgian last night and it's not bad. I'd get it again.

Great if yer in Mexico, but really....Mexican beer is just the result of a failed attempt at water-purification.

I like a good hefeweisen myself, but to me this was a failed attempt. I know why they call it Snapshot-it has a fizz to it similar to Paardebloem, but isn't smooth like a wheat should be. I'm sure they're selling plenty. Just not to me.

Sunshine Wheat is a much better and less gimmicky wheat.
