They did my boy Nick a solid. From the article:

"Before rejecting the deal, two sources said, the Eagles ran the scenario by Foles, who said he preferred to remain in Philadelphia."

I suspect it went down like this:

Howie Roseman: "Hey Nick, how would you like to be a starter again?"

Nick Foles: "Um, where Howie?"

Howie Roseman: "Um, Cleveland?"

Nick Foles: "That's cool Howie, but we all know broke legs wont ne the same so I'll just start here.."

Howie: "OK, I get it. Smart kid."

Makes sense, best idea is to play where his best chance at starting is.

Was this BEFORE they used the #1 on Baker?

Yet after a third for Tyrod?

Eagles really saved the Browns from being the Browns, again.

I'm sure Wentz will miss most of this year and the Iggles will miss the playoffs because of it. But they didn't need Foles for any of that to happen. Bad move on their part imo.

Everything coming out of the Ragles camp is he will be ready week 1. Miss all of the season???

Holy crap. Is it possible Philly really turned that down? That is moronic if they did. I don't believe it. Unless Wentz is still a big question mark for this year

A 2nd round pick is nice but maybe they are rolling the dice on a 2019 pick. They are going to have to let go of a lot of guys to fix their cap problems and will need young talent. Probably just better to wait and see how Wentz progresses over the next 3 months.

Man, that's strange on both team's parts. But when you hear you almost got traded to CLE and didn't:

Falls in line with my thoughts.

35 would have been nice, but they didn't get their socks knocked off.

No reason to make the trade until they've seen Wentz in camp.

I don't know. I can't predict the future but I don't see any way his value can be higher next year than this year. He just won a SB. A year from now he's likely just another backup. In the unlikely scenario that next year he is worth a first it means he is the Eagles starting QB and something happened with Wentz

Smart move by the Eagles, it's pretty clear the Eagles didn't have any needs when they drafted a back up TE with the first pick they had. Even if Foles doesn't see the field this season, the Eagles can still trade him for that next season.

LOL...we'll see about all that
they traded up too and thought they were screwing Dallas when Dallas had zero plans of drafting the TE in that slot.
Always on their mind....darn shame the champs remain that insecure about all things Dallas...reminds me of Washington

There's nothing to see. We have the best TE in the conference...and drafted a TE. And congrats, chalk up an off-season win for the Cowboys because the Eagles traded up in front of them...another off-season like that next year and the Cowboys will match their playoff win total this century.

Jerry Jones 2009 draft: "it's pretty clear they didn't have any needs". Right before the worst draft in history.

Good luck with that line of thinking. EVERYONE has needs

We had like 4 picks or something like that. And this draft will be an A+ no matter what happens because we gave up assets in this draft for Wentz.
