When JFF went down the other day he wasn't followed off the field by his father and agent and kept out of the game to protect his draft stock.

McCoy is a very good #2. Runner up for the Heisman. Backup in the pro's. He was a great QB in college. I think Manziel has a bit more talent, but with that comes much arrogance. If he lives through this season perhaps he will learn humility and wise up. Otherwise, he is going to be an hors d'oeuvre in the NFL. Look at the past decade+ of Heisman QB's. RGIII.....dual threat. Banged up year 1. Not much success yr 2. Cam Newton. Dual threat, but bigger. Some success in NFL, but like Bradford, not a great environment to really flourish. Tebow? Not even fun to poke at him anymore. Smith, Leinhart, White, Palmer, Crouch, Weinke......how many SB rings on those fingers? One has a better chance of success in the NFL at QB if they don't win a Heisman. Soooo.....there is still hope for Colt.

Colt never had the offensive line of Manziel.
JFF is about to get his second offensive lineman drafted in the top 5 in the NFL draft.
4 out of 5 offensive linemen protecting Manziel (in his two years) will be in the NFL.
You could make an argument that JFF played behind one of the best O-lines in the last 20 years of CFB.

I would love to see what Colt might have done with a better O-line.
McCoy and VY were so good that they hid the horrible decay of Texas offensive line talent.

Once Garrett Gilbert got under center, the issue was clearly apparent.
Much of Texas issues the last 3 seasons stems from trying to rebuild the O-line as a unit.

The O-line takes the longest to develop.
A&M started the process in 2010 and 2011, Manziel was the fortunate beneficiary in 2012.
The Texas QBs of 2014 and beyond will look a lot better now that the O-line is primary goal.

Ingram and Richardson are stealing NFL paychecks thanks to the same thing.

Colt had a tremendous 2006 OLine, but he was a fish then.

I've seen Manziel throw. Colt was the most prolific passer and winner in cfb history at the time.
Seen them both run. Colt was better.
Manziel thing is more than Reggie bush level hype, at least Reggie was electric.

The offensive line didn't seem to do their job protecting Johnny when he needed it.

Don't think it is their job to protect him 10 yards down field, which is where he got hurt. It may be instinct, but QBs have to learn the lesson from RBGIII ... you will get killed in this game if you don't play smart and get down.

Vince Young hid the decay of the Texas offensive line? That's pretty damn funny.

Dude, I've been watching Longhorn football for over 50 years and the only QB Texas has had in that time that was a better runner than Manziel was Vincent Young.

I think "technically" speaking, Colt was much more "pro ready", and knew the X's and O's better.

But if I have a team that is playing in a big game and my choices for QB are Manziel or Colt....I'm choosing Johnny Football every time. It's been fun to watch him play the past two years, and I hate to see him go. His two games against Alabama have been quite entertaining.

I think James Brown was better than Colt. If James Brown had the O-line that McCoy had, he would have won the Heisman (he was that good).

lmao... JB ran around holding the ball too long, then would chuck it too close to DBs.

I thought the goal was to win games????

McCoy was a winner.
He went 45-8 in games he started. (3-0 in bowl games started and finished)
That is an .850 winning percentage.
He beat 11 teams ranked in the final top 25 (24.4% wins were vs ranked teams)
He was injured in 2 of his losses (Texas led both times) only to watch the backup lose the game.
Its unfortunate he got hurt versus Alabama.

Manziel is a very good player, but not quite the winner.
He is off to a very nice 16-4 start.
That is an .800 winning percentage.
He has 2 wins versus ranked top 25 season ending teams. (16.67 % wins vs ranked teams)
