Coburn and A Mac out 4 weeks

Just read both are out 4 more weeks. Call ups not determined but at a minimum of 1 and probably 2 for Saturday. Probably will get to see what Alt and Manning can do. I am hoping Ghost.

Here we go again. Every year it seems like something like this happens. If anything positive comes of this, at least we may get a good look from our young guys. It is what it is I guess.

If one of Alt, Manning, or Ghost get called up we might discover a good hockey player to fill in until the injury bug gets cleared up. Ought to be interesting at the very least.

Timonen - Coburn
Streit - Grossmann
A Mac - Schenn

TO

Streit - Grossmann
MDZ - Schenn
Schultz - Alt (probably)

The missing point, or the one that I have not found being brought up...both Coburn and MacDonald eat minutes. They both average over 20 minutes on a slow night. They both so many of the little things that are overlooked. They use their reach and stick to steer plays. They block shots. They use the boards as a partner. They use their ability to skate and get to a spot faster than the other guy to allow their partner to be more aggressive - either physically or offensively.

Coburn has been a non-issue this season. When healthy, he is our best dman and is a 1st line pairing guy. The problem with MacDonald is that he is eating minutes and gets exposed because of it. He is being paid top pairing money as a 2nd or 3rd pairing guy. Maybe spreading his minutes out will be a good thing.

How can you not miss a minute eating 3rd pairing $5 mill/yr. player? The only bad news is that he is only signed for another 5 years. I feel bad that he is injured but we are going to get a look to see what we have in the system. Ghost played about 13 minutes and was decent. I would hope he gets better with a practice or 2 under his belt. Also, he will probably do a little better when he can build some chemistry with teammates.
