Last night Sims asked Raul about if MLB would adopt the double bag at 1B like softball. Funny because I asked Sims that same question some time back when I DM'd him on twitter and he replies that it would never happen. I wrote him back last night and thanked him for using my question. He didn't reply...lol.
Double bag at 1B? I just googled it, so there is a bag in play and a bag in foul territory, if the runner hits a ball and runs to the bag in foul territory they would be safe?

What's the purpose of this? To allow a runner to slide into the foul bag head first to prevent hand injuries?

Apologies for the stupid question lol. Seems like an interesting idea and I'm not surprised Sims used that question.

Despite the fact that we're currently on pace to take the series 3-1, I've been really impressed by the Indians lineup. They've got a lot of really good young, disciplined hitters.

No stupid questions there. I only know because I coached softball for several years.

The foul side bag keeps care of collisions from happening. It also keeps from idiots kicking the 1B like the other day. It also takes out the judgment call if the runner ran in a straight line for interference purposes. You have to run in the fold territory on plays at 1B or it is automatically interference on a play from behind. I have always advocated for it.

I was saying the same thing watching it. I love their style of play. Hardest team to strikeout, but 2nd lowest in hard hit balls. They are a true contact team which just runs up pitch counts and forces fielders to make plays. I am a big fan of it.

If you would have said 4 days ago that they would go 3 and 1 for this series everyone would have taken it.

Can't let their guard down and play poorly against the tigers.

Definitely NOT sustainable ... but the Mariners should continue to hit their share of home runs this season ( and hopefully post season )

my personal list of Mariners I think will go yard at any given time in order of predicted likelihood:

1. Suarez
2. Julio
3. Haniger
4. France ( anyone besides me think he has put on weight the past 2-5 weeks )
5. Raleigh
6. Santana
7. Winker

anyone not on that list may hit a random homerun here and there ( but not a threat to go yard )

My list of Mariners who I want coming to the plate with RISP ( guys on 2nd and 3rd with less than 2 outs )

1. Haniger
2. Julio
3. France
4. Haggerty
5. Suarez
6. Raleigh
7. Crawford
8. Winker
9. Santana

My list and order of starting pitchers in a 3 game wild card series

1. Ray
2. Castillo
3. Gilbert

pitchers in a 5 game division series

1. Ray
2. Castillo
3. Gilbert
4. Kirby ( short leash )
5. Ray again with 4-5 days rest

Yes. He looked huge today. I have said for a couple weeks I would like him to drop 15 lbs next year but after today I would up it to 20.
