Why trade Peppers? Guy was either 4th or 5th best safety per PFF last season....and on a rookie deal.

They had him rated 19th, but I'm still not sure. They have to keep him away from playing SS and have him more in the box or on the line. That's how he's going to be useful. If they want him to be back in coverage he'll regress. At the end of the day, though, it is probably the same case with Collins, so good point on not trading him.

Yeah I really just don't see a need for Collins when Peppers is going to fit perfect in the system for Wilks the new DC. I really don't think another LB (expensive one) is needed: peppers LB/S, Schobert, Avery and Kirksey. I wouldn't be opposed to signing Mosley or even Barr but I really want them to make some big moves on defense, mainly D-Line. Getting Flowers would be huge, another suitable CB. I'm just not sure a safety is a need but if one of those elite safeties works in with the new DC I am up for it.

sure, if it's what they think go for it, but agree not a need at all. Too bad as a number of solid safeties out there while a lack of CBs which agree they could use at least one.

If this team added Barr and Flowers and did nothing else in FA I might give them an A.

And that is what I am hoping. They could even sign Mosley or Collins but realistically I am hoping they get Flowers and make some other smaller moves.

Not a huge CB free agency market...kinda sucks. Verrett might be the best guy and he is always injured.

Kevin Johnson is there in Cleveland visiting today. Same situation with injuries, but he's good when he's healthy. He'd have to have sparkling medicals to make it worth it though, unless it's a 1-year deal.

I would be thrilled with Wilkins as well and yeah stopping the run was their weakness and a huge need.
