Rumors we were targeting him...

...Do ya'll know how amusing that would be?

Trade with San Francisco...

...For a QB that they drafted 102 picks AFTER Trubisky in the same draft.

...The same Trubisky that they FLEECED us in trading up for in the first place.

There is NO way Pace can do this. He would look SOOOOOOOOOOOO much more stupid that he already does in all this if we trade for Beathard...

We are not trading for a quarterback.

Mitch is guaranteed 9.2 million for 2020...and nobody is going to trade for him. Our only shot is a later round QB luckshot in the draft...

There's a chance that we might sign some bargain basement vet in the offseason but then we're eating a sh*t ton of money at the QB position...maybe even draft a later round rookie to go along with the vet and Trubisky? 9.2 million cap for Trubisky next year. Then what about Daniel? He's on the cap for 6 million in 2020...15.2 million for those two. Ouch. Granted, if we cut Daniel and went with Trubisky and 2 new guys we can drop that number for Daniel to 3 million in dead cap...still...12.2 million in cap-minimum-for what is probably amounting to the worst QB tandem in the NFL. Yay.

We're just screwed is how I see it.

Where does 15.2 million put us at so far as money spent on the QB position, though? Probably bottom 10, I would think.

He's basically never played for an NFL team.

You want Derek Carr?

Straight up trade?

Contract for contract?

For Good measure I'll toss in Deshone (sp?) Kizer.

Didnt we pay like 15 million for glennon? I wouldn’t get any hopes up for a decent qb with 12 mill min on the books

If we drop 20-30 million into the qb position in 2020 we are losing a major defensive player or two for sure

Glennon had a weird contract situation because we loaded 14.5 of the 19 mil guaranteed into the first year. That way we could cut him loose with only a small cap hit if we went with Trubisky and didn't see a reason to keep him on. Which we did.

I just think having 12 mil tied up in QB's going into next season is probably closer to the lowest among those with a returning starter. As opposed to being on the high side; which you seem to be implying.

And I'm confused by what you mean with Daniel. His contract is up following this season.

Well, in his early 30's. I've already been considering Trevathan a goner. Outside of that, we might lose Floyd.

oh nice I thought 2020 was this years pay so we can just move on. So its just mitch at 9.2 then. So draft and sign a reasonable vet and Trubisky is the backup in Daniel role...loss of prob only one player on the other side. Not horrible I guess...still no way we were trading for one

Fitz is 35 and Rosen is in his second year on his second dumpster fire of a team...

Trubisky is in year three and well into his second full season in this offense.

BOTH were considered talented coming out of college.

ONE has more of a fair baseline to judge him. I'm suggesting kicking the tires on the other...

One thing Rosen has never been accused of lacking is confidence, and I really think that is a key component we need out of our QB position right now...

I guess that’s fair enough. I’d still rather get a dalton and go for it
