Oh geez....The reporter is Mike Silver and very good friend of Rivera's ... connect the dots.

If I connect the dots and those two guys are friends it is okay if RR tells him that stuff but says don't repeat it. Instead Ron said "I don't know where that info came from."Oh geez....
Yeah. it could have been a player. It could have been chase himself. there were stories going back into last year with issues concerning his free lancing, his lack of dedication to OTAs, chase’s happiness with being a Commander, etc. so to say that we didn’t know there were issues is a bit off base. im not surprised chase was traded. I am surprised sweat was traded.Fair enough..the reporter could be making it up.
It said coaches and others within the organization. The reporter could be lying...that is true.
However, if he is not lying, how in the world would he know what coaches are thinking?
A good portion of this board wanted young resigned and some advocated for a 1st round pick if traded.
In other words, this board and the fans apparently had no clue that coaches and others in the orgsnization. If the fans didn't know about it..or it appears we didn't, then either a coach talked off the record, or the reporter made it up.
Do you have any other theories?
Well, that brings a whole new light into the issue. Then it probably was Ron.The reporter is Mike Silver and very good friend of Rivera's ... connect the dots.

He should. But he should have thrived here also.Look. , when a player gets released or traded there. Are always reasons , when it was all said and done they didn’t want to pay him for his potential not his production. Chase should thrive in Frisco
Yes and I feel the scouts saw an athlete but overlooked other things . It’s an incomplete job that was. Done and then a coaching staff that could reign him in or move him aroundHe should. But he should have thrived here also.
The bottom line is that the strategy was flawed in my opinion. Allen amd gruden took the first 3 and Rivera took young.Yes and I feel the scouts saw an athlete but overlooked other things . It’s an incomplete job that was. Done and then a coaching staff that could reign him in or move him around
Call me ignorant but most comments I have heard here were how good young was and how he needed to be resigned.Yeah. it could have been a player. It could have been chase himself. there were stories going back into last year with issues concerning his free lancing, his lack of dedication to OTAs, chase’s happiness with being a Commander, etc. so to say that we didn’t know there were issues is a bit off base. im not surprised chase was traded. The trade package seemed to revolve around a hopeful 1st rounder with a 2nd and additional pick being needed. I said 2nd rounder, so I clearly overvalued young myself and I wasn't a fan of his.
I understand that and have taken a beating for 4 years due to my views on Young. The reason we said keep Young over Sweat is his upside. Young is more dominant than Sweat but Young is very inconsistent and that includes his motor.
The trade package is what you desire. If they don’t meet your requirement, then you should not trade the player.

Excellent statement...spot on actually.I was calling him Clowney
I understand that and have taken a beating for 4 years due to my views on Young.
I still hold by the statement that availability is more important than ability. Young has injury concerns..that is why I liked Sweat more. He is dependable.
Clearly the league value of Young was much less than what the fans thought of him. If he was as valued and viewed solely on his upside, the league would have been pounding down the door to get in a trade offer. They didn't. The 2nd overall pick in 2020 went for a 3rd round compensatory pick.
I rest my case.
But the fact remains...sweat is more dependable than young.Guys like Sweat are not difference makers, but guys like Sweat get paid like a difference maker at times. That is the problem.
Don’t rest so quickly. Chase Young, who just came back from injury and is slated to be a FA, was traded for a 3rd to the 49ers, a tremendously well run organization. Nobody ever claims the 9ers are getting the short end of a trade. Sweat, the dependable but nothing special DE, fetched a 2 from Chicago, a poorly run and oft maligned franchise that made a similar trade last season for Claypool.
So to summarize, the league did not say Sweat over Young. The poorly run Bears team did say Sweat over Young, and Sweat has already said we should not count on him resigning with the 2-6 Bears. The well run 49ers said Young over Sweat as they are chasing a Super Bowl after a three game skid, even though, Chase Young is already talking retirement.
But the fact remains...sweat is more dependable than young.
If i had to pick one, it would be sweat in a landslide. He shows up and does his job. He is not the best DE ever, I agree. However, young will literally stop running toward the side of the field where a running back is going on a run play. Toohill and sweat at least attempt to run toward the play.
Sweat is a much better run defender than young. Young has more natural talent...that is for sure.
I never questioned Youngs talent, I questioned the draft strategy of the team and his character coming out of college. Listening to Craig Hoffmann podcast, he had red flags during the combine and osu pro day. Hoffman personally interviewed young and claims young threw DC under the bus to him personally. Rivera was fixated on young as was many in our fanbase.
I argued with Dean about this in depth. The original thread is there and I am stating now the same thing I said then. It was a bad pick period.
I think SF made a good call. They are trying to make the SB and have 9 games with young to help get there. It was a low cost grade for them and they clearly think they can squeeze the best of what young has in this season. If it works...great...if it doesn', it was a 3rd round comp pick.
I still think many in the fanbase overvalued young and in the end, he did little to nothing.
I dont care if sweat signs with the bears or not. They are a poor organization. That's true...but so are we. If we weren't, Chicago wouldn't have beat us by 20 on national TV.
