Just checked in on the Atlanta Braves game Jared Kelenic 3 for 3 w/ 2rbi and a pretty nice diving catch in centerfield.

Well done

They're platooning him in LF with Duvall after an awful Spring Training. They made the decision just a few days agao after insisting they wouldn't platoon him for a couple months before.

He'll need some more nights like that.

My feelings about Kelenic have always been ambivalent.

Tiny sample size of 2 games, but Kelenic is:4 H & BB in 7 PA’s w/ 2 RBI, no K’s & 1.381 OPS Maybe no “next Griffey” pressure is helping him

Given that he doesn't have power and has negative speed, France needs to be (or should be) hitting at least that to stay in the lineup

If it were not for the desperate Seattle Mariners, very likely, France would not be on any other teams 25 man roster, and all of major league baseball


Julio‘s at bat there in the eighth inning was just pathetic swung and messed at two balls that were up and in jamming him

Then he called third strike on a ball that was out over the plate and the strike zone where he could get the barrel of the bat on it and he didn’t swing

Talented, yes, a good hitter yes

But he’s like an unguided missile just does not have a consistent, steady smart approach at the plate. He just goes up there hacking away.

So much more potential if he can just get things figured out to be more of a contact hitter
