Yeah, the extra base hits havent been there for Votto but isnt ideally the #3 hole guy supposed to just get on base for the cleanup hitter? I mean, BP's been pretty damned good in that 4 hole so far.
Honestly, Votto is doing what he's smart enough to do -- take what's given. But I did notice that Bruce is beginning to see the light ... not trying to yank it out of the park every time. Or so it seems. He's gotten a few real nice ABs lately. I thought it was funny, listening to the Parrots announcers on Sunday, saying the Reds' HR totals would go up this week on the home stand. So far -- zero dingers and two wins.
I swear, the majority of the time it still looks like Jay Bruce is just up there guessing before the pitch is thrown. It feels like he has zero pitch recognition skills
Leake impressed me big time in his last start. Came out, got banged around but figured it out, saved the pen and kept us within striking distance...zactly what a 5th starter is supposed to do.
