Really sucks what happened to Fred. Very frustrating for him to be playing at an All Pro level and all of a sudden he could not play anymore. It was a major blow to the Cowboys OL.

Fred was real good at moving anybody in front of him. Fred was a huge guy though. He played with great technique. Beebe has similar traits. Look at how wide Beebes shoulders are. Lol. He is a big dude with a nasty streak
A great center can't be overrated. It changes your protection across the line, improves your ability to run the football, to me, it's the most important position up front after left tackle, and its close there. I couldn't stand them, but look at what Kelsey meant to the Eagles the last few years. KC was able to withstand the loss of great skill position guys after they went out and drafted a kid that became an all pro center. Now they run the ball fine with a cast of guys no one ever heard of at RB. Maybe what the Cowboys are thinking

I heard that Beebe,Hoffman and Bass competing for Center. Probably a smart move.

It will be interesting what they do early in camp. I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple of guys playing multiple positions until it all shakes out. One of the concerns with Guyton was not being NFL ready to play LT. If he isn't ready to start the year it could mean Tyler at LT and either Beebe or Bass at LG. I suspect they will push for Guyton to start week 1, but who knows with rookies.

I was thinking the same thing when it comes to Guyton. If Guyton not ready they have a plan B. If they were to move Smith to LT temporarily then I would prefer Bass and Beebe at LG and Center. I know they like Hoffman, but I prefer Bass over him

Right now to me, Bass and Hoffman are kind of a toss up. Both came into the year with little experience and both played a little and both did some good and bad things. I am a personally higher overall on Bass than Hoffman, but not necessarily at Center. So I guess it comes down to which position Beebe would play in this scenario. If he plays center I'd prefer Bass and if he plays OG I'd prefer Hoffman. But that is a very preliminary assumption on my part. Camp should decide it and not that my opinion matters, but my opinion likely changes based on how the offseason goes

guess I'll use this for offseason & preseason stuff.
I imagine everything right now is gonna be looked at with rose colored glasses so take it with a grain of salt, but here are some things.

4 Cowboys who are already turning heads at OTAs

4. WR KaVontae Turpin

KaVontae Turpin could be the biggest beneficiary of Michael Gallup's release. With CeeDee Lamb holding out amid contract talks, Turpin has been Dak Prescott's favorite target at OTAs not named Brandin Cooks.
Turpin was virtually unguardable during 7-on-7 drills and was on the receiving end of a deep fade along the sidelines during 11-on-11s, per the team's official website. While Turpin could star as a return specialist with the NFL's new kickoff rules, he could be on his way to earning a significant role in the offense.

3. DE Marshawn Kneeland

We get the sense that Cowboys fans are sleeping on Marshawn Kneeland. It surprised many when Dallas selected Kneeland in the second round, but it was a necessary investment on a defensive line that lost multiple important depth pieces this offseason.
Viewed as DeMarcus Lawrence's heir apparent because of his two-way ability (rushing the passer and defending the run) Kneeland has already won "several reps" against the Cowboys' first-team offensive line, per Patrik Walker of the team's official website.
Kneeland's role in year one could be bigger than expected.

2. WR Jalen Brooks

A seventh-round pick in 2023, Jalen Brooks is battling Jalen Tolbert for the WR3 job. Drafted in the third round in 2021, Tolbert has a year of experience on Brooks. If OTAs are any indication, though, Brooks is going to make this one of the most fascinating roster battles to watch.
"I think anytime you have an opportunity as a young receiver to get reps, it's a huge opportunity, especially if it's with the first group," said Mike McCarthy. "You can see both (Tolbert) and (Brooks) had really, really nice practices yesterday. So I think anytime you get those extra reps, it's great for our young guys."
Brooks is only entering his second year, but he has seemingly already separated himself from the bottom of the WR depth chart.

1. QB Trey Lance

Trey Lance has been all the rage to start the offseason program. Mike McCarthy revealed he altered Lance's throwing motion to allow for a quicker release and better timing. That has been on full display at practice, but Lance has also shown more command and comfortability in the offense after effectively red-shirting last season.
Lance has reportedly made several "well-placed" throws and is starting to build chemistry with the second-team receivers. The 23-year-old's confidence has grown in leaps and bounds and that figures to continue as the Cowboys give him all the reps he can handle.

I am actually liking what I read on Kneeland. the most.

Absolutely taken with a grain of salt as you say, but I still love reading these things when we can’t see for ourselves. Thanks for posting. I usually try to differentiate between comments that are just a response to a direct question which are often just BS and especially from McCarthy who just bathes everyone in “the greatest ever“ type responses over and over and the unsolicited praise where a reporter comments after watching or the question is more general like who has been 8mpressive and the coach or writer has to pick a name. But either way it’s always great to read the comments from the people who are there. One of the great things about twitter is it gets so much more info out there.

I’m refusing to buy into the Lance hype until preseason games, but reading positive things about him in particular is fantastic. Even if he is the number two, if he is active on game day this year, i think he can get some short yardage and goal line work. Dak is just so plodding at this point that if you get a guy like Lance in there his athletic ability can offset Dak’s superior ability as a passer in certain hand picked situations. Also agree with you on Kneeland. Free Beebe probably my favorite pick of the day 1 and 2 guys. Great thing about being good against the run is it gets you reps and hopefully into a rotation earlier than you otherwise might get

I agree on Kneeland. I kind of hope they rotate him in the middle at times early on just so he gets snaps. Get the best run defenders on the field.

Turpin had some good moments last season.

Brooks? Been hearing a lot of bloggers saying Brooks is coming on. Been hearing this for months.

Said it before, I'll say it again...I really think the Lance trade is going to work out. I like the kids talent and character. The redshirt year was the absolute best thing that could ever happen to him. Another year learning behind Dak will only help too. Talent was NEVER an issue with thr Niners. Just injuries and inexperience. He can sling the ball and is a Heck of a runner.
