It is officially 1 week til the 2018-19 NBA Season starts for the Hornets. The biggest changes are not on the court, but in the front office. Mitch Kupchak, former GM of the Los Angeles Lakers, is now the GM for the Charlotte Hornets. While Steve Clifford was fired as head coach, James Borrego, assistant coach from the San Antonio Spurs since 2015, was hired as the new head coach of the Charlotte Hornets. Lets look at the roster transactions in the offseason.
2018 Draft:
Miles Bridges, who seems like the real deal from his offseason play, was the draft pick in the first round for the Hornets. We also drafted Devonte' Graham from Kansas. The Hornets originally had the 11th pick in the draft, which was then traded to the Clippers for the 12th pick and 2 future draft picks. The Hornets then traded for the 34th pick and traded away 2 future draft picks of their own.
Roughly 2 weeks later, the Hornets then traded Dwight Howard to the Brooklyn Nets for Timofey Mozgov, a 2021 draft pick and cash.
The next day, the Hornets were part of a 3-team deal with the Bulls and the Magic. The Hornets sent Timofey Mozgov to Orlando and Julyan Stone to Chicago while the Hornets received Bismack Biyombo, a 2019 and a 2020 draft pick from Orlando.
The Hornets then signed veteran PG Tony Parker.
The first regular season game is next Wednesday, when they host the Milwaukee Bucks.
