Heard on the Fan that the Orioles are picking up talks with Trumbo again, now that he dropped his salary demands. He said he is looking for a 3 year deal in the $40 to $50 mil range now. It may be enough for us to bring him back.
At this point, I really could care less if he comes back. I would be fine if someone else signs him and we get an extra draft pick out of the deal so we can start restocking the farm system.
I'd be fine with a guy that could actually play the outfield decently, like Michael Saunders.

"A couple details on Mark Trumbo’s market — first, Peter Gammons tweets that the Orioles’ previously reported offer to Trumbo was for three years $40MM, not $50MM-plus."

I would offer him 3 years 34/40 mill and that's it. If not sign Alverez to split time at DH with Trey.

What I'm wondering is will Trumbo be the full time DH? If so, will they send Mancini back down to Norfolk instead of riding the bench. With Jones in CF, not counting Trumbo, we have 5 guys fighting for the corner OF slots (Kim, Rickard, Smith and the 2 rule 5 guys), so I'm wondering what they'll plan on doing with that.

Rickard has options and can be sent down to AAA. don't know much about the rule 5 guys. Are they better than Rickard?

Buck is going to want to see more of Mancini's power then they added Seth Smith....once there was a problem with outfield defense has become a sardine can:nod:

I don't remember the guys names off of the top of my head, so I have no clue. I can see it playing on one of two ways:

1. Trumbo DH's, Smith is the primary RF and we have four guys competing for LF. If that happens, Kim will stay and one of the rule 5 guys probably will as well. Rickard and Mancini get sent down and the other rule 5 guy goes back to whichever team he came from.

2. Mancini is the primary DH, Trumbo plays RF, Smith splits LF and RF duties and Kim stays in LF. Rickard gets sent down and the two rule 5 guys leave.

I'm not sure if Buck will go with a 3 or 4 man bench this year. We all know that Joseph and Flaherty will be two of them and Buck will keep a spare OF on the bench as well. If there's a 4th bench guy, I don't know how Buck will determine who will get that spot.

the rule v guys are high obp guys with one maybe on dl to start season with a bum shoulder .as far as trey with his power and bat make a great ph to carry . I mean ryan needs a ph . I can see smith and trey duo in rf . Richard like caleb will start at aaa as depth since both has options . btw great to see britton wants to be a o's his whole carrer

Is there room to bring back Weiters on a 1 year deal 7/8M? Much better duo at catcher than joseph. Buys the O's one more year on Sisco.

Not the worst idea in the world. At least if Castillo went down, I'd much rather have Wieters in the lineup than I would Joseph. He and Flaherty both are guaranteed outs whenever they're in the lineup.

In addition.....I haven't seen Wieters signing on anywhere else, so he might be still in the thought process for a contract
I also wonder if Boras is trying to hold out for as much money as he can get him.

If so its only hurting Wieters...where the Orioles are concerned because they already signed Castillo and with Sisco in waiting Boras doesn't have any leverage

Well, it seems our "window" is this year. Let's go all in then. Bring back Wieters on a one year deal (you know he wants to be an Oriole) and make a trade for a #2-#3 type pitcher. This should make us contenders.

our biggest challenge last season was the first 3 innings for our starting pitchers. If the starting pitching can get through the first 3 innings in 17 the Orioles will at least get to the postseason for sure

Agree with that. Looking for Gausman and Bundy to take a step forward, maybe 12 wins each. Tillman steady with 15. Maybe sign Holland if available? If we can get through 6 Inn this year, 2E and hand it to our pen, our bats on most nights is enough. Helps having the best closers in baseball. This year's team could surprise.
