The move was risky. If Hanson hit into a double play. Bochy goes into the 5th inning of tie game, tempted to bring in his long reliever and already used up one of only 4 bench players. Obviously, it worked though, so the risk doesn't completely play out (unless the reliever coughs up the lead and the bullpen starts to get used up quickly).

Just because it is risky, doesn't mean I would never do it. That being said, I'm not sure I would have seen the value of hitting for the pitcher that early. I probably would want Holland to leave the bat on his shoulder and let Panik try with 2 outs. I'm certainly glad, tonight at least, Bochy didn't do that. It worked out great!

He's been the definition of effectively wild. Although since May 7th he has just 1 walk in 11.1 innings, and 17 K's

Fair enough. Not hindsight I really liked the move. Hanson has speed so the DP less likely, etc. Mainly it's due to my confidence in the pen.
