I've never seen as much attention given to hand size as this year. There are a bunch of articles on hand size at the combine. They are saying Goff's small hands could cost him millions. He's got 9" hands which fall under the 9-1/8 to 9-1/4" NFL average. He's a QB so it's deemed more important than at other positions.

If you are curious, to measure your hand like the pros, place your hand palm down on a flat surface and stretch your fingers as far as possible. The measurement is from the outside of your thumb to the outside of your pinky finger.

My hand is 8-3/4". So much for my NFL dreams.

Niner's WR DeAndre Smelter has the NFL's largest hands at 11".

Apparently this wasn't even a stat before 2008. There is no record for guys like Manning, Brady or Roethlisberger. But it assumed they would have large hands due to their above average height.

I bet his dick looks real small in that monster hand when he jacks it.

I'm betting everything is comparable in size. Plus he's a non-reflective gentleman so he has that stereotype going for him.

Oh, not saying he isn't packing a huge donger. Just that it probably looks smaller than normal in those bear paws he's got.

A big deal was made about Alex Smith's small hands when he was struggling in SF saying it was causing too many fumbles. It doesn't seem to be an issue with him from 2011 and with Kansas City.

Gloves can help with undersized hands, but Goff doesn't use them (hasn't needed to on the West Coast). If he goes to play in miserable weather in Cleveland, that hand size will hurt his cold weather accuracy (when that football is a brick and slippery) and could lead to fumble issues. Gloves have helped Bridgewater; remember how terrible his pro day was without them (and that was in good weather)?

Ameer Abdullah's tiny hands aren't an issue.

Aside from the nonstop fumbles.

Handsize is totally irrelevant for most positions.

Its slightly relevant for players who throw and catch a football. To have a strong 'arm' in the NFL, you pretty much need 9 1.2" hands. Manziel, Dalton and Tannehill are examples of current QBs who dont hit that mark. There is also a weird stigma on super tall QBs, too, so I'm not sure Lynch and Wentz have totally seperated from Goff but Wentz is probably in the lead

You probably also need 9" hands to be a WR. I haven't looked into it too much and you probably don't get anything from having massive hands.

Most won't remember being too young, but Dave Kreig put up really good career #'s, but a HUUUGE knock on him was his fumble-itis. And that was attributable to his small hands.
