Yes it's 8 years but they have the option to opt out of the stadium is not top teir. So technically they owe nothing when they choose to opt out

So do you think the Dome would sit there idle and not used at all?? Come on, you cannot be that naive. In fact, if the Rams leave or get the new stadium, the Dome will actually be used MORE than it is now which will continue to generate revenue for the city. More conventions, more Supercross, more concerts, more HS football championships etc... it will more than make up for the revenue lost if no Rams games are played there.

If the dome gets used at all has nothing to do with the Rams lease agreement. The agreement has a clause in it stating after 20 years if the stadium isn't top tier per NFL standards the Rams can opt out with no penalty, thus going to year to year.
Personally I don't care if the stadium gets used or not.

Yes, I agree Shopson as the soccer idea was more of the same attempt by the City of St. Louis to CYA when it finally realized they fell asleep at the switch and lost a significant revenue source.
You seem to have some animosity towards the city of STL. Nobody fell asleep at the switch. Rumors have been flying about moving to London or LA for years now because Kroenke is only loyal to money

He has been like that for quite sometime. He is very vocal about the Rams ditching St. Louis and moving to LA. He has been saying that for years. I get his loyalty to the Rams and that's awesome but perhaps tone down the negativity? Cuz I get tried of reading it. Hence why I rarely post here anymore.

No less animosity than the STL fans have towards LA potentially taking their team back really. It's a loaded topic from both sides. Luckily I'm in Western NY, so no real preference other than a full, rocking stadium (and a bit of loyalty to LA historically).

Bottom line is this new stadium would have kept them here in St Louis had it been presented TWO YEARS AGO!! The city, county and state all dragged their feet after Kroenke's words when he bought the team outright were "I will do everything I can to keep this team here in St Louis". Hindsight being 20/20 they should not have believed him obviously. If some miracle happens and they stay, fantastic. If they move (as I suspect will happen), that is ok too. I am RAMS fan. Not a LOS ANGELES fan nor a ST LOUIS fan.

ksu, I believe you started out this post 100% correct until the bold section. Mainly because timing is everything. Had St Louis made these concessions TWO YEARS AGO as you put it, IMO then St Louis could have believed him.

It's not like he said he will do everything he can until the day he dies to keep the team in St Louis.

Goodness that is a huge difference.

Time changes things and St Louis dropped the ball by sitting on their hands for two years as you just said by not seizing the opportunity when it knocked.

You have an interesting definition of falling asleep at the switch Clayton. If rumors were circling for years and the city did nothing, what do you call that?

Exactly... as soon as the CVC rejected the proposal to upgrade the Dome, THAT is when this new stadium proposal would have made the most sense and probably would have kept the Rams here. Obviously, there is still a chance. I mean Kroenke is a business man after all. Maybe he is going to build a stadium in LA, charge someone else to play in it and STILL get his new stadium in St Louis (which the rent money from LA pays for his rent in St Louis). Granted, I know it is a stretch, but it could happen AND nobody would question is business sense for doing it.

Let's be real, Kroenke wants to be the first owner in football, that gets all revenue from the team by owning the land, stadium and team.

The entire premise is absurd. STL must have a 'top tier' dome? I don't see it as falling asleep at the switch. The Rams stock has never been lower because they've been so bad for so long. The only constant on the team is that the oline will suck, the QB play will suck and the OC will suck. Kroenke has had a terrible product. You don't go around flexing your muscles when you have a terrible product. You don't threaten to move your team away from your home when you have a terrible product. You don't extort your home city after a major recession. Timing is everything. If Kroenke wanted to stay then he wouldnt be pressing the issue now. He'd wait for a winning season. He wants to make money.

Says who?? Says you?? Any owner of ANY franchise in ANY sport can request to relocate ANYTIME they want. The Colts were one of the WORST teams in football when Irsay moved them to Indy. The Browns were even worse when Modell moved them to Baltimore. Hell look at the Big Red for crying out loud. They were GARBAGE when Bidwell took the money and ran to Arizona.

Clayton, I get you are angry, but the city agreed to the "absurd" deal when the Rams moved here. You are acting on emotion, Kroenke is acting like a business man trying to get the best deal for his investment. He is certainly not "flexing his muscles". He is only doing what his agreement with the city allows him to do. The city should have stepped up with this idea when the Dome proposal was rejected. The product on the field has ZERO to do with business. Again, that is your emotion getting the better of you. At the end of the day, the value of the team, crappy or not, is going to increase the minute it becomes the Los Angeles Rams. You would be stupid not to think so.

Thats kinda my point, though. LA will always be a more valuable destination. The fact that he is picking a time after a recession when the team has been bad for a very long time means that he wants to move because...LA will always be a more valuable destination then any current US city. The general consensus from fans across the league if the Rams move won't be 'what did STL do wrong' but 'hey, the Rams are back where they used to be' because LA is a big friggin market.

Ok, I can see that point. Just wanting to see where you were going with it. At the end of the day, I have been a Rams fan since 1978 while having lived in 6 states and overseas. I will always be a fan of the team... period.

In the bold, you could just about take out the name Kroenke and put in the name Frontiere and replace the he's with she's regarding the Rams departure from LA in the first place.
