Still a long way to go. They are moving at lightning speed as far as stadiums go here in STL. They cleard a big hurdle yesterday with getting approval to move some railroad lines and power lines that are on the stadium grounds. It's going to be interesting. I don't know how the nfl can say we don't have a solid plan in place.

Dam the Rams will bring back Bradford for 1 more 6-10/5-11 year and the STL fans will have to watch it. Then in 2016 in LA, the Rams will finally move on from Bradford and watch what happens.

Sorry it's almost funny

Ultimately its the NFLs decision and I doubt all of those California owners are going to want the Rams moving in on their territory

Way too many things can happen between now and then. Still way too early.

What California owners? The only franchise in reasonable proximity is the Chargers (120 mi), who are also often mentioned as a potentially moving team. San Francisco is 380 miles away; Vegas and Phoenix are considerably closer.

The Chargers were the team I was thinking about in particular but yeah, I could see some owners not being too thrilled with the whole ordeal. LA was kept vacant for leverage so cities like STL will pay for billionaires to have a team in their city. Even if the Rams move, STL will still be paying for the Edward Jones Dome for another 5 years or so IIRC and that before the proposed boondoggle that Nixon wants.

Actually it is 8 years left on the original bond initiative. But one thing St Louis need to remember is that unless you have stayed in a hotel in St Louis city or St Louis County, you have NEVER paid any money in taxes toward the Dome. The bonds are secured by a 1.5% hotel tax on rooms in the city and county. The proposal is to extend the current bonds to where the same hotel tax extends for 30 more years beyond the 8 left on the Dome.

Yes it's 8 years but they have the option to opt out of the stadium is not top teir. So technically they owe nothing when they choose to opt out

So do you think the Dome would sit there idle and not used at all?? Come on, you cannot be that naive. In fact, if the Rams leave or get the new stadium, the Dome will actually be used MORE than it is now which will continue to generate revenue for the city. More conventions, more Supercross, more concerts, more HS football championships etc... it will more than make up for the revenue lost if no Rams games are played there.

Lets just build a new stadium still have the Rams and Pro soccer and the ED will be available all year round :yahoo:

Keep dreaming Cougar. The Rams are moving to LA. I'll be surprised if they don't. Kroneke has made it known that he is pretty much done with St Louis. If St Louis proceeds full steam ahead with a stadium that is open air, they are going to build it for a soccer team. You have to ask yourself: Why would the Rams who play in a dome now except an open-air stadium in a cold weather city? It ain't going to happen. The Rams are going to LA and St Louis is getting a soccer franchise.

The open air stadium is just cheaper to build. The cardinals played here for a long time in open air. The soccer thing was just an extra perk if the rams stay and get a new stadium. If they move the stadium won't be built.

I fail to see why this is a compelling argument towards anything. Its tax money being spent on something that isn't "name whatever you want taxes to be spent on"

Kroenke either wants to be in LA or he is playing STL and LA at the same time. There isn't a scenario where this ends with STL having leverage.

That's the ticket Clayton. And Cougar, what does the Cardinals preferences of years hence have anything to do with the present preferences of the Rams? This is the ploy of St. Louis to try and use leverage to get the NFL to side with St. Louis and force the Rams to stay. As the gentleman heading up the commission to keep the Rams has recently stated, the Rams our ours to fight for and we intend to do that. Unfortunately, the NFL is siding with the Rams because they have been attempting to get a franchise back in LA since both the Rams and the Raiders left.

This is a mish-mash last minute attempt by the city of St. Louis to retain a prominent revenue stream and they threw together a cheap stadium of which Kroneke has already demonstrated is not interested in. The stadium proposal is even less appealing in design then renovating EDJ Dome and Kroneke knows that people don't want to work for the Rams due in part to their present home.

Besides, the revenue Kroneke is going to score in LA is way more than anything St. Louis can offer him and Kroneke has a huge investment consortium developing with his stadium project that simply overshadows the possibilities in St. Louis.

The city of St. Louis also tried to entice Kroneke to stay with the lame idea of applying for a soccer franchise knowing that Kroneke owns one in England. No, the city of St. Louis screwed the pooch when they allowed this thing to fester beginning years ago and it was evident when Kroneke finally got full ownership of the Rams that he didn't want to stay although he tried to mask his intentions as much as possible.

Come 2016, the Rams will be headed to LA.

The soccer angle is ludicrous. He already owns the Colorado Rapids (MLS) in his sons' name and is the largest shareholder of Arsenal.

Yes, I agree Shopson as the soccer idea was more of the same attempt by the City of St. Louis to CYA when it finally realized they fell asleep at the switch and lost a significant revenue source.
