Jamal Adams, DK Metcalf and Bobby Wagner make the All Pro team this year... Well deserved... I am a bit surprised that Wag's made it though... Just seems like he had a down year to his standards...

Yeah.

We all know that name recognition has as much to do with these selections as actual performance. But Bobby did get 138 tackles this year which is about on average for his career.

I don't really know if Metcalf is deserving though. I think Lockett had a better overall year, he certainly had less drops. But Metcalf is a media darling because his potential is unlimited so he gets the nod.

Thats how it works!

Sad Lockett with his 100 Catches and 1000 yards didn't make it.

Great news... Looks like Shaq AND J. Reed will be ready to go this weekend... I was concerned about Reed so it's great news that he's good to go tomorrow....

I think at this point, i'd rather him sit this one out... Can't afford for him to figure things out during a postseason game... If he was a veteran returning to the postseason, i'd have a differing opinion but as a rookie? No... He should sit this out...
I see what you're saying but if he's a go that's an extra body on the D-line we can use. He won't be starting but could give guys a quick breather keeping them fresh.

Yeah but he would just take the place of another DL who has played this season... I trust Carroll... If he feels he can make a difference, that's all that matters...

Oh no I'm not saying start, just rotate him in when needed. I'm sure there's a guy on the roster that can be deactivated.

I think it's a bit of a name thing. Bobby played much better in 2020 compared to 2019, but he's definitely lost a step which is just due to age and the number of hits the guy has taken (which is mostly him making the hits lol, but still all the same). Bobby is only 30 which seems insane, but I don't know how long he'll be able to keep this up. I hope for a few more years and that's why I loved the Jordyn Brooks draft selection so much (because I see Brooks as an eventual replacement but that's a TALL order to replace Wagner).

End of day Bobby is a hall of famer EASY. 5x (6x now?) all pro, SB champ... it's a 1st ballot HOF. Those guys are generally going to get a bit of a nod even over guys with better stats. And that's the thing, gotta look past the stats sometimes. The leadership and football IQ he brings to the field are FAR more than a tackle for a loss here, sack there, or INT wherever. It's not all about that, it's about the impact at the position. And FEW (if any) inside linebackers in the NFL today bring that impact overall.

That's why I was (and still am) excited about the Adams trade. Because Adams has 'it'. That factor that as a defense you know this guy is going to bring it and kick your ass if you don't. I just wish he'd stay healthy!

I don't think Bobby would get this much love if he didn't play beside KJ. Man KJ is something else, he is like the smartest guy on the field and the one that seems to make a play when it needs to be made. Remember it was his pressure that caused the Rams RB to try and cut it back and he ran into the leg of the guy KJ was just bull rushing back into the RB. Or the perfectly set up screen passes that he somehow warps through two blockers to nail the guy for a 7 yard loss. lol KJ is special he really is fun to watch. We are spoiled with our LBer talent. Thank you Norton, He gets these guys playing like he did at linebacker.

Hard to see where we go from here. Pasted from the game thread:

I think we may be done winning anything significant in the PC era. He is too set on his pre-historic offense that I don't think can get you to a SB unless you have one of the best defenses of all time. It's ironic to me that the improvement of our defense is probably what did us in this year. Early in the season when it was terrible we were letting Russell push the ball down the field and scored over 30 a game. We had a rash of injuries right around when we played some really good teams, then after that our D went from Clark Kent to Super Man and we employed one of the most risk averse gameplans I have ever seen. And we did it week in and week out. We have the best deep baller in the game plus one of the better WR duos, and we are just throwing 4 yard passes until we get to a 4th quarter emergency. You can have good regular season records that way, but it's not getting us far in the playoffs anymore. We are wasting Russell Wilson, sadly enough. If this is what we are going to do, we should trade Russell, DK & TL, sign Cam Newton, and just run the option. I am usually fairly optimistic about things, but I think the PC era may have jumped the shark with yesterday's loss.

----

We need a more offensive minded HC I think. This WWI era approach isn't working on the modern battle field. Half of me is hoping JS does get hired away to Detroit and it convinces PC to cash in his chips. I just don't see us doing much more than this every year unless we make a philosophical change to our gameplans, and we know PC isn't going to do that. He's been great, but I think it may have run its course.

Offense lost it for us yesterday for sure and the 2nd half season Wilson (outside of the lowly Jets) vs. the 1st half Wilson was night and day. Something major got shook up. I mean Seattle went 12-4... in most seasons that's a 1st round bye, but yesterday we got embarrassed by the Rams, at home of all things.

We're stuck with Carroll for a few more years. But perhaps Schneider may leave and please of god fucking getting rid of Norton Jr. away may shake things up.

I think we may need to be more concerned about resigning Wilson. He may be done with Seattle at this point. And throw DK into the mix as well regarding that comment. When a 2nd year (LATE SECOND ROUND) wide receiver pick is bitching people out on the sideline, yikes. Not that it really mattered... Wilson had less than 3 seconds on nearly every drop back to make a decision.... but still...

Well, as the season wraps up I think no question some changes are needed next year.... I’m hoping like heck Norton is replaced even though our D played much better down the stretch, I still think he’s vanilla at play calling... I also think we need to get back to being a more physical team and get away from this finesse style of offense... We gotta get back to running then ball, line up behind center and stop running shotgun every play, get back to being a physical O not a finesse O where we just throw throw and throw the ball .... Good running game and a good defense is key for playoff success, that was our formula back in the day, then Russ was killing people out of play action... Rams live off that and it works for them even though Goff is subpar and throwing with a broken thumb... We won 12 games which is a solid season, but the end result wasn’t a surprise, I think we all knew this team had holes in it .... Let’s hope for a good off-season and some changes ...

So now that we are officially out of the playoffs...........who is everyone's second choice to win it all? Personally, I'm rooting for the Titans or Bills in the AFC, and it wouldn't kill me to see Brees win one more and retire so I guess I'll pick the Saints out of the NFC. The teams I definitely do NOT want to win are the Packers or Steelers.

I'm with you, which is why I wasn't too excited that we extended Pete Carroll when we did... His philosophy is great and all but his conservative, "prehistoric approach" is holding us back... I feel like he would do us justice and retire... We need some new blood going forward... I love an appreciate everything PC has done for us (Best Coach in Hawk History) but you have to know when to move on... You don't want to move on and be reactive to a situation... We need to be proactive... Sometimes being proactive comes with difficult decisions... This is one of them...

I can see Schneider moving on because he's basically left our cupboard bare at this point... Reminds me of the Mariners farm system 3 years ago...

just to throw an idea out there, Russell Wilson/Rashaad Penny for DeShawn Watson? :D

I don't think Russell as a player is any different than the 1st half of the season. Our D was terrible early on, so we had to throw more aggressively, which leads to more stats of course. Just look at YPA and how it declined. Passer rating surely declined, but it wasn't because Russell suddenly turned into a different player after 8.5 years in the league. We just stopped throwing deeper routes damn near altogether until we absolutely had to (YPA goes way down, much fewer TDs, and both of those are a big part of passer rating). And I think we did that because the D got better at the same time we were facing lesser offenses, and PC knows he can turtle up with a good D and great QB and win a high % of the time in that situation.

The Rams are a great snapshot of why our offensive approach is antiquated and inferior. Why do we have so many problems with them when lesser teams seem to do ok? We have 2 wins against them with McVay? Their DL eats us up almost every time and makes our offense almost completely impotent. We refuse to attack them the way other teams do for whatever reason. Yesterday's pick-6 was the only WR screen that was intercepted the entire season. They were not scared in the least about us pushing it down the field until we had to, so that DB didn't risk much by jumping that route. They'll clamp on us again next year but then have trouble against teams with way lesser QBs. Our offensive approach just leaves so much on the table.

Yes, Russell himself was not a different player, just PLAYED differently. And then Seattle fucked it all up once the defense was worked out.

I think Russell is going to walk once his contract is up. There's zero reason for him to stay, he's in limbo with the direction of this coaching staff.

Reactive -- great way to describe what we do. We just play to hope that more or less nothing big happens for 3 quarters, then put it all on Russell to pull the team out of the fire. We make very little attempt to create a game situation early on that has us dictating what the other offense must do. They can just do whatever almost the whole game, and then we have to react to it in crunch time.

That Rams defense is gonna cause anyone problems.... Aaron Donald needs to play though, so hopefully that rib injury isn’t a crack or something... I want to see them at full strength going up against the Pack or the Saints, just to see how those teams handle them...
