i agree dko the team on paper should no way be this bad...but lou's bad moves with the free agent signings and giving them ntc and nmc cuffs this team and what they are able to do.

watching how elias has played in comparison to most on the teeam i think trading elias is maybe the last thing you wanna do.

I agree with rko trading elias would be stupid he's been one of our mire talented players lately.waiving langs or white would make no sense .you could get something back for langs and white has been one of the few dmen we gave that steps up.the team needs a change but I think jmac would be the best start.

I think a lot of agree that there are others higher in the firing line or at least there should be than White.

Baseball isn't going to do much for me, but the Chiefs are having a surprise season. So I will hold onto that for as long as I possibly can.

So the 5 game losing streak is the longest since 2000.

The best (worst) stat is that the devils are at 1.76 gpg. This will be the worst offensive team the NHL has seen since the 1930s... And people say the changes in the lockout were supposed to increase scoring.

I'd say a lot of people on the team needs to get replaced over the next 2 years or so.

Parise - Zajac - Tedenby
Elias - Josefson - Kovalchuk
Rolston (resigned at $1.5 mil. He owes the team that much) - Henrique - Vasyunov
Any number of 4th liners signed or brought up, these guys are a dime a dozen

Volch - Larsson (HELL YEA!)
Urbom - White
Tallinder - Salmela

Marty
Generic Backup

That means the following people need to be removed: Salvador, Langenbrunner, Arnott, Clarkson, Zubrus, Greene, Corrente, Fraser

At this point, only a top centerman would be necessary. I'd prefer if Tallinder was moved but he was just signed so I doubt it would happen. The devs could probably also replace one of Volch/White/Urbom with a more offensive minded player. I however don't see Volch or Urbom getting moved and Lou seems to be too loyal towards White. Marty may hold the team back by then but I'm not sure if Wedge/Clermont will be ready to take over that quickly

I wouldn't mind seeing a trade of either Zajac or Josefson combined with one of the more approachable wastes of space like Greene and Clarkson to get a highly talented centerman. Zajac already is a superb all around centerman and I see Josefson falling into the same role as Zajac. That makes one of them more expendable.

To be honest I couldn't see that making the team better.clarkson is the closest thing we have to a power forward and the only one on the team who can fight.losing arnott would be losing our mist productive player so far.

That was predicting 2 years from now. I was doing a bit of estimation on what players I would rather have sticking around and who I think don't have much of a future with the team. You do however have a point and I forgot how old Rolston already is. Clarkson can stay on the third line and get rid of Rolston when his contract is up.

Arnott is already slow and would probably be too slow in that time to matter. I forgot that we need a power forward but our top 6 forwards are set for a while. I guess Tedenby could get traded and replaced with a tough power forward. Parise and Kovalchuk are not gonna go anywhere and I don't see Elias going anywhere either.

Two years into the future that makes a little more sense.clarkson would be one of the last players I want to see go for both the reasons I said and he's one of the few players that bleed devils red and black.I would take arnott back over rolston for one thing I can't see rolston doing the devils any favors and another he's Definatly not as productive as arnott.I would hate to see tedenby go he's been our most exciting prospect.also within the next two years the cap may go up and other options may become available a little to early for me to speculate.the main concern I have at the moment is a coaching change

I'd trade Ilya Kovalchuk to LA for Jack Johnson and Bernier and call it a year.

Can Ilya be traded based on his contract? Maybe KHL willing to take him if it is allowed. Does anybody know details or rules about these things.

Kovalchuk's NTC and contract length pretty much means he is untradeable as an asset. He's not gonna want to go to the KHL so i'd assume he would veto anything like that.

Jesus why are people even talking about trading Kovalchuk? i severely hope it was with essence of sarcasm :L Like we all said in the offseason at the end of this season we lose some crappy contracts so things will look a lot better.

I wanted Kovy to be Devil's player, but it looks like he doesn't fit here. But I still hope and will try to be patient. I really want him to prove me wrong.
