I think the US beats Ghana and gets a result against Portugal. I'll reserve any prediction against Germany till later.

I think USA is going to finish 2nd in this group. They've got to beat Ghana though.


The refs made it pretty easy for Brazil to pull out the W today. Terrible call for the PK, and took one away from Croatia.

Ghana is a must win. Getting out of the group would be incredible. I have a feeling we're going to count on Ghana to get a result against Portugal or Germany.

Yup. Germany/Portugal is Monday along with ours. I've got a German co-worker and he says he is the most worried about the US. I was taunting him about all of the German Americans that chose to play for the US over Germany.

If Ronaldo does play against Germany I could see Ronaldo getting nicked up pretty bad in that match. Portugal is just average without him, and their defense is suspect.

I agree. I worry about us taking Ghana lightly. They aren't going to be a cakewalk. I'm not sure they aren't better than Portugal, without Ronaldo.

Ghana probably is better than Portugal without Ronaldo. Don't think for even a second the US is looking past Ghana. Ghana has knocked us out of the last two world cups and klinsman and the players both know how important it is to get 3 points against Ghana because it may be our best opportunity.

How about making it to the quarterfinals in 2002 and losing a hard fought match 1-0 to Germany after shocking heavyweight favorites Portugal 3-2, and beating the favored Mexicans in the round of sixteen. How about finishing first runner up to Brazil in a 3-2 loss at the confederations cup in 2009 after beating the #1 ranked Spain 2-0 to get there. How about winning their group in 2010? I'd say the US is very much a factor.
