According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports and The Athletic, the Mariners have traded for Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Kolten Wong in exchange for outfielder Jesse Winker and utility man Abraham Toro. ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports the Brewers are also sending $1.75 million in cash to Seattle as part of the trade.

Love the signing. Especially with the shift going away. We needed some speed at second and we got it. Like you mentioned very good against right handers which is huge. Great move that I did not see coming.

It looks like a solid positive for the team

Winker was a defensive liability and apparently a bit of a clubhouse problem, so when his offense left him he was basically worthless.

I like Toro. Seems like a good guy. But his bat disappeared after a hot start with the team. Plus we have other utility guys.

So basically unloading Winker, and throwing in a utility guy and some cash for a starter who can persumably hit for average +.

Seems like a net positive to me!

We were never in on the Big 4 SS's. Dipoto announced that when he said he wouldn't move JP off SS. Same as last year. It was just a fan fuzzy way of saying it.

He should stay in the lead off spot. He isn’t the old school lead off hitter but he needs the most AB’s. If anything this move can get France out of the 2 hole.

No more wanker! Toro was pretty much a dead spot in the lineup in days he played too.
I wish the guys luck but glad they are gone if the Mariners are trying to improve the team.
