The US ladies are like real pro athletes now. They got paid and now aren’t as good.
No other team in the WC is dealing with as many starters, potential starters out injured. Not sure any Pro NFL teams had as many last year while fielding 22 starters. Mal was the last straw. Press, Dalkamper, Sam, Macario, becky, and even potential starters like Davidson and Midge coming off of injury. 1/2 the Team starters were down. Think about that.

Take any pro team and remove 1/2 of their starters and see how they do.

And they still out played Sweden until penalty kick time. And that's always a crap shoot.

And there is your headline from ESPN .....you just knew it was coming.

Lets just blame the coach. Equal pay but not equal accountability.

Then end for the US . . .
After the Rapinoe miss, she laughed.

After the Smith miss, she cried.

Hopefully Rapinoe will fade into obscurity.

To me, this is why soccer isn't big in our country. You can dominate a game start to finish by every statistical measure and of course just via your eyes too and still lose. That doesn't happen in other sports (I should say team sports) or if it does, it's extremely rare.

All of that said, the USA officially had 22 shots and by my count, at least 20 of those were blocked, wide or literally RIGHT AT Musovic.

CAN WE MAYBE AIM WHERE THE GOALIE ISN'T STANDING!?!

I'm just saying...Lol

That's my only criticism and it extends to the shootout too.

Rapinoe and Smith both could've won the shootout and BOTH of them absolutely choked it away. Hell, even our own goalie scored in the shootout. No shame for Naeher. She did everything humanly possibly to win it and lost by a millimeter.

Other than that, props to the USA women for finally playing a complete game and props to those gorgeous, Swedish women for pouncing in the shootout after we choked it away.

Props to the coach for changing formation after a dismal group stage.
However, this will still go down as the earliest exit ever for the WNT.
Politics aside, and it's obvious from the responses here, the coach has to go.

Otherwise, he will always be second guessed in any tournament moving forward.

Great teams here at the end. It’s obvious Australia is favorite for the home fans but I’m rooting for England to beat them and win it all. Go Lionesses!!!

England were looking reasonably comfortable until that goal.

I’m having to watch all the games on Telemundo as Fox still hasn’t made an agreement with DirecTV on the local channels.

Would have much rather played Sweden in the final. I suspect Spain will pass us to death.

GG Spain. I didn't see much from England in the final. Could've been 2-0 or 3-0, easily, especially if that penalty kick had any pace at all to it.

Before the knockouts, I expected the final to be winner of Sweden/USA vs. England. Once Spain beat Sweden, I'm not surprised that they also beat England to win it all. Sweden probably would've beaten England too, with all due respect.

I thought England did alright until the goal went in. Then they just couldn't get the ball (which is what I thought would happen before the match). Spain worthy winners but I think England would have beaten any other team.
