Not much on drinking wine but I keep some around for cooking, it's a must for clams and linguini. My girl who cuts my hair loves it, so if I am bringing meself a brew when I go to see her I pick up a nice bottle for her, needless to say, I never have a problem getting an appointment.

I haven't quite developed the palet to distinguish between good & bad wine so it all tastes the same to me. I prefer reds (cabs, merlots). But definitely whatever is cheapest!

I couldn't tell good wine from wine from a box. As a matter of fact, I never drink it unless it comes with a meal. And even then, I'm impartial about it. Could take it or leave it.

I just opened my first bottle from my first homemade wine I've ever made!!! Waited almost 3 months from the time I bottled it until I opened it. I've got about 30 bottles left and think I will wait and open the next one in a few weeks. Need to come up with a name for the wine and some labels now.

easy solution...and really kind of fun:

drink more and sample a variety of bottles! tough work, but somebody's gotta do it.

First time I opened this thread... pretty funny in that there were so few SPECIFIC recommendations/likes (vineyard/year/etc,)..... but talk about beer, and everyone's all over that! Ya gotta try the 'Pudunk One Eyed Sissy Licker Belgian Style' .
