Red flag after an accident with Biffle getting involved with Newman collecting McDowell. Pieces everywhere and the safety crews now have to fix a fence with a huge hole in it because the rear axle suspension of McDowell's car ended up on the fence.

Yep, everyone walked away from this one. But now they are yappin' up a storm on ESPN to fill the red flag time. What a pile of drivel coming from all of the "experts".

WTH was that bullshit from Wise? He clearly just stopped in the grass to bring out the caution.

Congrats to AJ Allmendinger. He ran a great race and held off the perennial favorite at Watkins Glen to score his first career win. Hard to not like AJ. He's been through a lot and is now a NASCAR Cup winner. Also congrats to Brad Daugherty(spell) on his first win as an owner. Always cool to see a low budget team get the win.

This is also the first win of the season for Richard Childress equipment.

It was cool to see both Roger Penske and Richard Childress congratulate AJ in victory lane.

Very good race down the stretch. You can't help but be happy for AJ and really the team.

And McDowell is one lucky sob. The frame and the trailing arms broke, releasing the entire rear end suspension. That's not suppose to happen and takes a hellacious hit at the exact right place of weakness in the frame. And why I say McDowell is lucky is because with the rear end suspension being ripped out of the chassis and taking a good chunk of the frame with it, it leaves the driver cockpit exposed. He's lucky the car caught in the fence because if he got hit by another car or took a hit from the wall with the rear, we could be looking at a very serious injury or even death. Newman was right to call out the track officials. Watkins Glen has been subpar for decades with their safety issues and numerous series have called them out on it.

That tire barrier in turn 1 has been horse shit for years. When someone's throttle hangs wide open, it isn't going to be pretty.

I was hoping my boy Ambrose would pull it out but Allmendinger had the better car and A.J. schooled Ambrose in the closing laps. It is good to see a small team win. There might be hope for this series yet!

Thankfully the ECU prevents that. Well, it "should". If there's a hang in the mechanical linkage, there's fail safes in the ECU that kills power to the engine. You're still likely headed for impact but its enough to not be quite as bad
