I'd take JJ over both at this point once i really watched the film.
Maye looks like he needs to sit a whole year or 2. Daniels really does leave the pocket way too early, and he won't make it through his rookie year with his current style of play. I see the Lamar comps but Lamar has had the unusual ability to avoid monster hits

im not with you on that one. Still leaning towards Daniels b/c of KK.

i get it. I'm not saying his tape isn't good, but his patience and play style is concerning. most of these guys get injured in 2 years, and there is enough tape to know what Daniels will like to do. He will have to level up. JJ is more patient, he's got wheels too.
Maybe he just looks boring, but i'd be willing to trade down. i expect JJ gone by 15 in the 1st

The thing is this.
Maye played in an inferior conference in the ACC. That is not his fault.
The big issue was the drop in production in 2023. That is not good.

Daniels is not a perfect qb. However, he put up monster numbers in the SEC. He improved from 2022 to 2023 drastically.

Both are good qbs, but conference and strength of opponents needs to be considered. What would maye have done against playing 4 top 10 teams? He had 9 picks playing only 2 ranked teams all year. Maybe he was hurt? Maybe the playcalling was bad?

It would be interesting to see if their positions were flipped in 2022 and 2023. Again, I think they both can be good.

You understand that the ACC had higher ranked defenses then the SEC

I didn't know that.

That being said, I doubt those defenses would have ranked nearly as high against sec offenses.

The ACC had a losing record in Bowl season and had 4 ranked teams in the final AP poll.
The SEC had 6 teams in the final AP poll and had a winning record in Bowl season.

LSU played 4 top 10 teams. UNC played 2 ranked teams all season I believe.

The offenses are superior in the sec compared to the ACC.

I would be interested to see how each qb would have performed on the other team.

Here are the rankings
I knew you weren't lying.

Were the acc defensive rankings high because the acc offenses were subpar?

Or Were sec offenses ranked high because sec defenses were subpar?

The nfl is about 20% former sec players last time I saw a stat. I am willing to bet that more sec players are taken in the 2024 draft than any other conference.

The pac 12 and big 10 were better this year than previous years for sure.

Conversely speaking, the sec had 4 offenses ranked in top 25 offenses.
The acc had 1.
