Totally blown away by the effort out there today. Yeah, Buzz has this team playing hard every game as he should but it really jumped out today. We played about as well as you could possibly expect given the circumstances. UVA was completely knocked out of sorts and we somehow managed to grind out buckets for the most part. If we had Bibbs, we may have even won because his scoring prowess was certainly missed during the droughts, especially in the last 3 minutes when our boys just looked gassed and couldn't eek out much of anything. Post game, Buzz was doing his usual "we didn't win' bit, but this was definitely a step forward in the grander scheme. Despite being undermanned, this team is still responding to coaching and improving. That's a great sign.

Other notes:

-Henry plays 3 inches taller than he is. That block was SICK. His hops and timing are outstanding.

-SHOOT THE FUCKING BALL WILL! You're not out there just for follicle fashion reasons.

-Something that stood out to me. We need to hit the roll man on the pick more often. Pierce and Beyer had quite a few open lanes and the ball never found them. Some of that is the guard is doubled off the pick and UVA's length takes away the passing lane but a lot of it was our guards not even bothering to look for Pierce.

-Speaking of Pierce, you can see him getting better and gaining confidence each game.

Buzz was NOT happy with Johnston passing up that shot.

Not liking the trend this game is going. We played fairly well in the first half and led at halftime by 5. That's good. But Pitt came out strong to start the 2nd half and grabbed the lead. It's been a 3 to 5 point lead for Pitt ever since and we seem to be a little bit more disjointed this half. They lead by 3 with 12 minutes left. Lots of time left. This is a winnable game. Hopefully we tighten up and get it done

Ugh. After a solid stretch to come back and take the lead, we've stalled out and Pitt has gone up 58-51 with under 3 to play. Getting sloppy. Not a good way to close this game out
