Joe Thornton has scored 4 goals in his last 39 games, and none in the last 10!! He has exactly 1 game winner this season!!

Now, I understand that Thornton is primarily a passer, and he is very good at that. However, it seems that a top line forward, who is considered (by some)one of the best players in the game, should score more goals by accident.

It seems to me that Thornton is producing at a level consistent with an average 3rd line forward, not a top line player who also happens to be team Captain. His lack of scoring has hurt the Sharks this year, and will certainly hurt them in the playoffs.

Not disagreeing with your anything, but he is T-2nd for assists in the west which helps a bit....and Zetterberg has 1 more assist and 2 more goals than him to compare.

He is still a top line player when he is motivated. When he isn't motivated he gets demoted to the third or fourth line minutes. If you average them all out he is a second line guy. I would like to see his next contract come without the NTC, just in case.

I really think that if the Sharks are going to do anything in the playoffs it will be the Couture line that leads the way.
