The only one's pathetic here are the haters. Dpd is rooting for a player on the Eagles to succeed. You are rooting for a player on the Eagles to fail. That's pathetic.

You accuse Wings of making something up and then make this comment. Pot calling Mr. Kettle.

I can't find a single post that even suggest someone here wants a player on the Eagles roster to fail. That is a flat out ridiculous and just plain stupid comment. If you are going to make that comment back it up with something that supports it. Maybe I missed comments on that.

What I do see is people posting that Tebow sucks as an NFL QB and Tebow has not done anything to prove everyone wrong. I personally would love to see him or any other QB on the team turn out to be the second coming of Brady, Rogers or Peyton but one thing is definitely certain.....Tebow will never be that. As an NFL QB he is just bad and arguably one of the worst.

Chip has said nothing to that effect. You and a few dumb writers made that up. If Tebow could beat out Barkley he'd be the regular 3rd string QB. Why would you want a guy that "can't throw" to be the 2 pt QB? Why not just hike it straight to Murray?

Wrong junior.... Simply stating he isn't good enough to Make the team... Period.

Simple solution.

Keep Barkley. Cut Tebow. No team will likely sign Tebow, then if an injury happens, you sign Tebow (who knows offense) to be your 3rd QB.

Simple.

Only reason you keep Tebow over Barkley is if another team offers a pick for him. As in a 4th/5th or better. Which is unlikey imo. But stranger things have happened.

Rueben Frank said that the Eagles would even trade Barkley for a 7th. Don'; know if that's true, but wouldn't doubt it.

Not NFL Quarterback. That simple.

Just out of curiosity, would you rather have that run, down to the 1 yard line....

Or Barkley throwing an INT???

Just saying, I have "NO" love for Tebow whatsoever. IMHO, we should be looking for another option, because I think teblow and barkley both blow.

However, as DPD says, if you look at him outside of the light of a "young, inexperience developmental QB" that you might normally expect a 3rd stringer to be -and see him as simply a temp stop gap until your starter gets back with the purpose of simply, try not to lose the game -- his running is not seen that bad. Yes, he misses a lot of what you would expect from a QB - but if this is your 3rd option, your likely in the crapper anyways - at least he isn't turning the ball over and is far more mobile and getting positive plays.

Just trying to look at this for what it is.

That said, I doubt he makes the team. But if we are playoff bound and Bradford will be back in 2 weeks, sanchesz is out, and we need to win 2 games to clinch - I'd rather have teblow than barkley to get me there, for Bradford to take back over.

That's the way I see it up above. I wouldn't be surprised if Tebow got a lot better in these next two games either, it takes a bit of live action to shake off the rust. Just as likely though is he's too far removed from his glory days and, more importantly, the confidence that goes with it.

Also, this has been said before, but maybe the Cardinals offense could have been a bit more functional for them with a Tebow rather than a Ryan Lindley at the end of last year.

Tebow's roughest stat is the fumbles (I'd like to see some dpd stats with those factored in). If he cleans that up he won't be the reason you lose games. Not bad for a 3rd stringer. All the 3rd stringers leave plays on the field.

I would like to have the QB throw to the wide open receiver. The receiver that did not have a single defender within 10 yards of him. That is what I would have liked. If I am not mistaken we only got 3 points on that drive. Would Barkley have thrown an interception? I don't know he was not on the field.

are you telling me you do not remember detmer taking the field and throwing 3 INT's in 3 drives??? This is a 3rd stringer, who is out to prove himself, and is simply NOT VERY GOOD. The more you throw, the more chances you have of something going wrong. Runs tend to have a lot less chance of turnover. And the QB rating speaks for itself as well. Again - I think both blow. But the purpose of a 3rd stringer (to me) is a young developmental that you hope becomes something. Barkley, imho, is NOT IT. But if the purpose is to simply NOT LOSE, until the starter comes back because we are making a playoff run and not simply rebuilding - I'd take teblow over barkley every single time.

I mean, it was 1st and goal and he got it down inside the 1 yard line and almost scored. Is this REALLY what we are using to complain he shouldn't even be a 3rd option???? No one is making the point he is a starting caliber QB. The issue is - can he help us not lose a game long enough for the starter to return. That is the ONLY way this is seen - because we are not looking to DEVELOP a new QB right now - that player is simply not on the team.

Ummmmm.....No....that is not the reason. That is part of the overall picture. I base my opinion on the fact that as a passer which is the most important skill as a passer (go figure) Tebow is just horrible at it.

We've beat this dead horse long enough. Tebow will make the team, so just live with it. If we get down the the 3rd QB, we are in trouble, as are every team. Barkley and his ilk are a dime a dozen. We can always find another guy like him. Enough. Let's get on with the game tonight! Can't wait for Sept.14th!!

Barkley. 5/9 28 yards 61 QB rating
Tebow. 2/2 15 Yards. 98 rating

Interesting that they tried Tebow as a 2 point specialist.

After neither distinguished themselves last night, i wouldn't be surprised if Chip trades or picks up another QB after cuts are made this week. Tebow, sorry to say, has lost at least one step, and Barkley looks weak.

'twil be an interesting 2 weeks before the season starts.

Old Duke time for a Thicker set of glasses bro....Barkley looked pretty good, has two dropped balls that were dead on the money. He shows poise in the pocket for a young QB....Mayock couldn't be more clear, TEBOW needs to go and Barkley should be given the opportunity to compete for the backup spot next season. This is important, no matter how some spin it, ya think Chips gonna keep paying Sanchez 5 million a year as a backup??? Fuck no! Barkleys arm looks healed from his surgery, and he looks the part. Tebow looks like shit...period.

I read an article that suggests cutting both Tebow and Barkley while using Trey Burton (who was a converted QB at Florida) as your emergency #3 ... thus allowing for an extra roster spot. Tebow keeps proving that his immediate future is in a booth and not a football field.

I don't know about the Burton rumor, but nothing would surprise me, Rey. I did see several 3rd or 4th stringers that look better than our 2.

Wings, how did you know I have thin lenses? Been checkin' up, eh? I still think Barkley is very weak. Just me and many others opinion. Better check your lenses.

From Tommy Lawlor:
* At this point I would not keep Matt Barkley or Tim Tebow. I don’t think either one of them has won a roster spot. Barkley is in his third year. I know he plays with backups, but so do other third string QBs. Bryn Renner from Baltimore and Matt Blanchard from Green Bay both showed real promise in the fourth quarter of games. I’m not seeing any of that from Barkley. Go beyond the stats. I just don’t see a guy in control out there. And I don’t see anything special physically. The promise he showed in the opener has disappeared.

I am on board with cutting them both, but I think Round 3 definitely went to Tebow. Mostly because Barkley sucked last night.
