Oh.
I projected the Pirates to improve by 15 games this year, which means 72 wins. So far, the Pirates are 27-29 (and looking good right now to move to 28-29, but I don't want to assume anything just yet), which puts them on pace for 78 wins.
The thing that's so impressive to me, though, is that they're doing this in a fairly sustainable way. The pitching has been very good, but honestly not so far above everyone's potential that it should completely collapse. I expect some regression, but not a huge amount. The hitting hasn't been there yet, but there's so much talent in this lineup that they should at least move into average production as the year goes on. We're actually starting to see that, too, as Tabata, McCutchen, and Overbay are all showing signs of starting to produce at a fairly high rate, Diaz and Jones are both playing under their career lines and should regress toward those lines, and Walker has been good pretty much all year.
