Should coaches require or post a "Code of Conduct" for the players?

Unfortunately, most kids who are apart of big teams have very little manners as they were all about football and not enough of how to be a good person with respect for others. It's a very tough job for coaches to have to teach these young men how to be respectable adults. However, it must be done, and i commend those coaches who do this very well. When i was on the high school wrestling team we were not required to wear shirt and ties on match day, but were required to wear a button shirt with nice slacks. And we were required to be respectable to all students and teachers, and anyone caught not doing that paid a very big price. You would pay for your mistake and it sucked. However, he had the 3 strike rule. He did this allowing people to better themselves without having to throw them to the curve to quickly, depending on the action. This sign should definitely be apart of every locker room, meeting room, training room, and everywhere where players are constantly at.

I have no problem with any of that. They just have to
enforce it, and it must be enforced on your best players
with the same vigor that it is enforced with walk-on's.

In business, when you make the minor details a big deal
thru enforcement, the number of big details get reduced.

It must be enforced AND demonstrated, through the behavior of the coaching staff.

Washington has something similar to that. It helps keep teams from going full Michigan St.
Going to keep riding that same joke?

I think it should be common sense not to be a total asshole on the regular. Shouldnt have to be posted on a wall.

Personally, I don't think it is necessary. If they want to be treated like grown ups, give them a "Code of Conduct" contract, basically like in the movie Coach Carter. I find it cool when a star player is benched for a quarter because he broke team conduct rule. Something we will probably never know why.

I wonder how much Campbell was thinking about QB Jacob Park when he put that sign together? I think Park and offensive play calling was the reason ISU lost to Texas, but I don't know if ISU would have beaten Oklahoma the following week.

Sadly there are far too many kids these days who aren't learning those lessons in the home so they simply have no idea.

Nothing wrong with coaches mentoring these kids in order to help mold them into respectful young men.

If the players produce on the field, I don't care if they're the most polite person in the world or if they're a complete dickhead.

I just want to win.

I agree. Dont break NCAA rules, dont break school conduct rules to get kicked out, dont break the law so you have to be suspended to satisfy the P.C. crowd.

Other than that win. I dont care if you say please or not.
