Seems like it's just a matter of time before the Jags walk Gus out into the back field and make him dig his own grave. Ok, the Goodfellas reference may be a bit much... but, would the team want to create a position for Gus on staff if and when he gets fired? Or would that potentially cause too many problems with Kris Richards being the guy?

Kris Richard seems pretty entrenched here now. Fewest points allowed last year and only a turd laid yesterday by the Steelers is keeping them from holding serve on that so far this season after 3 games.

This is Bradley's 4th season? Yeah, he probably doesn't have much more room for error. Blake Bortles was pretty good last year and you gotta figure at some point soon it will translate to wins.....but dang, 0-3 with nearly 30 points given up a game?? If his run ends at the end of this season, I bet he would latch on somewhere else as a DC vs come back here in some assumingly lesser role.

Who knows, Carroll has been quoted as saying he thinks it'll be hard to keep Richard around here - that he could be looking for a HC job this offseason - so maybe Bradley has a shot to come back here as DC.....but who knows what could happen.

Richard getting a HC job already -- that would be a stunner. He's a good Rooney Rule candidate for sure though. I actually like him as a good bet to succeed PC here, but of course that's gonna be tough if he's hired away elsewhere first.

I could see him getting a nebulous consultant role here for this year if he's let go early in the season, but otherwise I don't see it happening. He'd be better off career-wise going somewhere else and having success as a defensive assistant/coordinator than coming back here.

Well, that's a revisionist look at what happened in Seattle under Bradley. He is the architect of the defense we enjoy today, and started our defensive dominance with a #7 D in 2011 and #1 in 2012 (and our Super Bowl). I can't say bringing him back would mean that we are earth shattering - but Quinn and Richard have both benefited from the work that Bradley did while he was in Seattle.

I agree. I don't think coming back to the Seahawks would be a good career move for him. Better off latching on with some other NFL team as a DC or taking a college HC position.

IDK, his abysmal record in Jacksonville may have cemented that his career will never again get higher than a coordinator's position. IF DC is as high as he can go - then getting that wherever he can would be his best move. Not saying he should come back to Seattle, but that he should go wherever he can get a DC job - whether that be Seattle or not.

Pete Carroll's record was never as bad as Bradley. Hell, when taking Seattle's job, his career record was 33-31. Bradley is 12-39. Not even close to being a similar situation. Now, Romeo Crennel could be a situation he could hope to attain - but even Crennel had a better record and a 10 win season, which Bradley doesn't have.

The NFL likes to recycle head coaches, even bad ones. Hell, even Belichick got off to a rough start in his head coaching career with Cleveland and in his first year in New England. He went a combined 41-55 in those six seasons. I think he turned out fine.

It might be a while before Bradley gets another NFL head coaching job if Jacksonville fires him and I'm sure he'll have to get back to being a college head coach, NFL coordinator or position coach in the meantime, but somebody somewhere will give him another shot in the next decade or so; and if he's anything like Carroll or Belichick, he'll learn from his first experience and make the necessary adjustments to his style/approach to be successful at his next landing spot.

I would say that in recent years, the NFL recycles coaches - even the mediocre ones, not the bad ones. As it sits right now, if Bradley were to be fired and then at some point later hired as HC again, he would have the worst winning percentage of any coach to get re-hired in the last 50 years. He would have the second lowest winning percentage of any coach with 40 or more games coached, as well. Also, unless a coach made the playoffs at some point during their first tenure - the odds of them having a decent run in their second job are almost nil.

Honestly, without Bradley getting a position where he becomes interim head coach like Romeo Crennel and Mike Mularky did, I'm not sure I see him being brought into anywhere to have a head coaching job. It's not like he's a young coach, he's in his 50s, so he'll have to be Pete Carroll/USC good elsewhere even to be given a look - and I just don't see that happening. It could happen, just not likely.

I will fact check myself - but he was gone for our Super Bowl - don't know why the last few days I have been putting our Super Bowl in the 2012 season (did the same thing in a conversation with a friend yesterday).

He was still a huge part of putting that SB D together though. Just look at all the players still on it now from when he last coached here in 2012.

That 2012 defense was damn impressive. Especially considering they really only had one pass rusher.

I wouldn't mind bringing Bradley back IF Richards gets hired as a coordinator. I mean I didn't think Dan Quinn was going to get a head coaching job so quick he was only the hawks DC for like 1 season so I wouldn't get caught off guard about Richards. I think if Bradley wanted to he could get a head coaching job in college if he wants not from a big time program of course maybe like the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers if that Tracy Claeys guy doesn't work out since he is from that state

Quinn was here for 2 seasons as DC (both Super Bowl appearances)
