Here's something we didn't expect when the Cubs started 25-6: The Rangers have passed them for most wins in the majors. The Cubs still hold a small edge in winning percentage (.649 to .640), but they've gone just 23-20 since that hot start. All-time great team? Let's see if they're the best team of 2016.

Good series against a good team. Just taking a quick look at the AL East, I think there will be a big trade for a good starter made by the Orioles, Red Sox, or Blue Jays. It's an all out war in that division, and a high end starter could be the difference. We might see Teheran or Fernandez moved for a kings ransom.

I'm glad the cubbies have cooled off a bit.

Giving a haul for Teheran would be a huge mistake imo.

We took 2 of 3 from Boston and should have been 3 of 3. That happened with the likes of Martinez Ramos Perez Griffin and a tired BP. I'd say we did very well considering. Got a stretch to go with the addition of Gonzales. This will be a test for the team going forward. It is conceivable to think we split with NY Twins and Boston. If so that will be a success on this road trip.

If the SP, no matter who they end up being from game to game can keep us in it, the offense can win us games even against good pitching. Lets win them all

That is what I was leading to per say. The pitching was a nice surprise

10 game trip.... I'm hoping for 6-4, but 5-5 wouldn't be bad if you consider the pitching situation.

I'd take 2-2 against yanks, 2-1 against twins, and 1-2 against Red Sox. The Red Sox series looks tough because we face their 3 best pitchers. I'm hoping the team does better, but I'd take 5-5.

lots of teams including most in the AL West, have injuries to deal with at this point in the season. M's are dealing with SP injuries and bad BP. Still have good hitting though. Just gotta keep pace until we get guys back though. I think we will be in good shape and with a couple moves JD could make this team serious contenders, if they aren't already

Pitching problems possibly?

Mariners fall 11-6 to the Cardinals who hit 6 home runs, 13 extra-base hits.

At minimum we have to equal or better what the M's and Stros do and we are in great shape.

I can see both sides, but tend to side more with Romeo on this one

I hate people from Texas that root for the Yankees bc they 27 World Series titles.... thats the easy way out in picking a team...

I never really lived anywhere that had a baseball team til I lived in Dallas so firm loyalties were hard to come by, so I went with what was available to watch, so til then I was often a Braves and Cubs "fan" bc they had the most games available for me to watch on cable

After I moved to Dallas, the Rangers were by far the easiest for me to follow and I've never looked back since
Agree about seeing both sides. As a kid I hated the Yankees, Celtics and Packers. Wanted the underdog to win. Was a big Cardinal fan because while my dad was stationed in Hawaii the Cardinals beat the Yankees in the '64 WS. So agree with donaldson there because I had never been to St Louis. Hawaii had no team. But in regards to Romeo I cannot stand fans who pick a team just because they win. Case in point, I wonder how many supposed Bulls fans found a new team to root for after Jordan retired. But have rooted for all DFW teams since coming here in '69.

Not real crazy about Chi Chi starting tomorrow but hoping for the best. And I think Tolleson is finding his way back.

Scrolling through the weekend comments, and I'm pretty surprised to see that the Rangers being percentage points off the best record in baseball doesn't seem to have most of you feeling any better about the team. About the same level of vitriol that was being thrown out when they were in third place and under .500.

I get having nitpicks here and there, but shit. Some of y'all need to sit back and enjoy the ride.

Roind Rock's Michael Roth had a no hitter until after the first out in the 8th. He gives up a triple just barely out of the reach of Hoying.

Roth gets the shutout only giving up 2 hits total. It only took him 102 pitches so he might have even got to complete the game had Banister been managing. Banny likes keeping guys right in that range or lower usually.
