With Carr likely out in vegas, the likelihood geno gets a huge offer goes down.

How do you figure? I would like to understand the reasoning behind your thinking? Hell the Raiders might offer Geno a contract.

Geno can leave he doesn't make the team better, he is a average QB that has sit for a long time and learned all he could learn and will never improve from where he is now.

Carr would be a slight upgrade over Geno but his contract is down right stupid. Teams will look at what Geno has done this year and ignore the bad which there has been a lot of and offer him something stupid. He is not even worth 15 mill per season. As bad as Wilson has been this year, Geno has and will be worse lol. Just give it time just not on the Hawks please.

If the Hawks can sign Geno for a 2 year 28 million dollar Contract ( 14 per year ) i would say do it. Anything over that let him walk.

What would you all think about signing Gardner Minshew if Geno ends up walking due to money? Gardner hasn't been that bad... He was good for a bad Jacksonville team is first two seasons... For his career, he has 43 TD's / 14 INT's...

It means one more QB than teams looking for a QB

Sounds like mcdaniel's likes stidham, if he plays well enough they may not be looking for a FA qb

I was actually wanting that this past offseason, he is a perfect stop gap QB that would come cheap and has upside. He is almost 4 to 1 in TD to Int's for his career, Geno is 3TD to 2 INT for his career.

to many teams needing a QB hell Denver might be in the market LMAO but if I was them I would draft one with their 3rd rounder. Try to ease the blow of that stupid contract they gave Wilson.

Simple concept of supply and demand, I like the growing list of FA QBs for the off-season. I think Derek Carr could fit here, but at the very least I think he's helping drop the cost of what any 1 signing might be. Good news for us.

This is what the FA pool looks like right now:
Jimmy G
Lamar jackson
Brady
Geno
Mayfield
Carr
Mike White
sam darnold

Some wont make it, like jackson, but definitely options for teams that want a veteran. Then theres potentially 4 QBs that could go round 1.

Just doesnt feel like the market will be there for Geno to get a big payday.

Definitely a simple concept but in this case, with Carr in the mix - you have a guy now that could get over 40 million a year in a new deal... Now Geno tells his agent, I had a much better season that Carr this year so I should get at least that much or more... Carr being release shakes things up a bit more in FA, imo in terms of driving up the market...

Im not convinced teams are going to line up to sign Carr, or geno for that matter.

Carr will not sniff a 40 million dollar contract, more like maybe 25 million if he can find a team that wants to sign him. I think he would be a good fit with Washington.

Think these QBs who are not first tier QBs are going to find a market correction happening. Too many lately have crashed and burned, leaving teams wondering "What was I thinking when I signed that bum?" It will be a temporary correction but the small handful of GMs who sign these second rate QBs are either fired or at least chastised harshly and won't be doing that any time soon. That's my theory, now watch the market go bonkers over these bums.:rolleyes2:

Will the wilson trade deter teams as well?

Unless watson shakes the rust off quickly, that trade will also go down as a huge bust

And then you have Brock purdy possibly shaking things up, maybe teams will opt to build around younger QBs instead of throwing the future away for a big name

The rams got a SB out of it but right now its feeling a bit fluky

I would take the under on Carr getting a $40M/yr deal, but his body of work and Geno's are not even close to the same. Geno may have had a better year, but he's not finishing it very strong.

Is Jacoby Brissett out there as well? Some might dismiss him right off the bat, but I would submit we didn't think of Geno any more highly than we thought of Brissett before this season started. I see no reason why a guy like him couldn't also come in here and be an adequate player, and for a lot less than some other QBs are costing their teams for only marginally better play. Quite a few more or less interchangeable vet QBs will be on the market, and that can only be good for us.

In addition a bunch of bargain basement types Dalton, Heinicke, Minshew, Cooper Rush,Tyler Huntley, Brett Rypien, Bridgewater, Lock, Darnold, Phillip Walker. Also some old retreads like Wentz, Ryan and Mariota likely get released, Besides the top 4 QBs potentially in the 1st round, think we see an addition 2-4 drafted after the 1st that have some potential.
The QB market is going to be interesting this off season.

Looking at the ratio of positions outside of QB picked in the top 10 of the 1st round each year... Look at the last 10 years worth of draft picks in the top 10 of each round... The likely hood of a player outside of a QB in the top 10 panning out is much higher than of a QB... This is why I'd like to see our 1st 2 picks on defense... If you look at the defensive players selected in the top 10 over the last 10 years, you have a greater shot landing a stud than you do w/ a QB...

This reads like a cautionary tale of why you don't draft a QB early.

I would take Carr over Geno, Just because I think he is slightly better.
