Thought I would start a thread on this series.

I have to admit I was a little bit hesitant to start Liriano on my Fantasy team against the Tigers... So far so good He is in the 4th inning currently no runs allowed. He is not striking out the tigers, but I will take a win any way they can get it!

This is another good test for the Pirates... Verlander is one of the best pitchers in baseball.. and the Tigers are one of the better teams. Facing Verlander on the road... that is a tough obstacle!

Why is Contreras on this team? Seriously... The guy has not really been effective... There are other options.

Thanks for costing us the ballgame Clint by bringing him in, in a high leverage situation in a 1 run game! I never want to see Contreras again ever, period!

PS A special mention to Josh Harrison for getting himself picked off of 2nd base when we had a chance to tie the game in the 8th inning.

We are a very good team, but losing this one today because of Hurdle & Harrison, kinda stings. This was a game we could have easily won.

i live in philly and it was hard to watch contreras here even before surgery.
we have options.
i thought he was bringing in wilson. if he wanted a righty, go with vin. he had meet of order, so go even with melancon.
get contreras out of there. i would be fine with hughes, welker, black, morris, alderson, zagurski, or any one with potential, under 29, and can get more than one inning when needed.

didnt see the harrison play. how did he fall asleep.

That was my biggest concern with Liriano against familiar opponents like the Tigers. I will be very curious to see how he does the second time around with an NL team. On the other hand outside the Angels he plays the worst against the Tigers in his career.

As for Harrison I really wish he would never get called up again. Not sure of the love fest but never once was I ever impressed with him.

The shame of this game was the bad strikeouts early with runners on base.

at least we didnt melt like puddy against verlander like we did x2 last year.
in their park, didnt back down and our marginal guys, #24 and #25 lost it for us.

Good question probably another in the long line of interesting moves Hurdle does. Just like leaving Contreras in that long.

I dunno, my wife gets migranes and even after the migrane is over, all the hours of puking does wear you down.

tabata went on the DL. they werent sure how long he would be out and they needed position players with a DL needed for 2 days.
they wanted someone versatile.

thought it would be a lefty, like presly who can run also.
even pie has been running well in AAA.
or dejesus get a try.

harrison was the known and most versatile commodity, so .......
