I've already said this on the Flyers board, but Ruben needs to change the mentality/complexion/attitude of this team.

Rollins - Ibanez - Fat Joe - Oswalt - Baez - Schneider - Valdez, Bowker, Gload and/or Martinez - Francisco - Contreras - Herndon --- GONE.

Lots of work needs to be done and if I was Amaro....I'd be cutting/waiving/releasing guys right fucking now.

Well...aside from Rollins I called it, but not a damn thing came out of it.. :frown:

lol Coming from a Bears fan who's an expert on mediocre seasons, you may have something there.

 I'm definitely not a Bears fan; the first two logos are needed for the letters sir! I will profess that I'm an Atlanta fan and am not at all upset by the Phillies downfall this season, but I am shocked. Never thought the Nationals would lead the NL East and that the Phillies would be in fourth this season...

At this rate, I think the Phillies may somehow make a run at the Wild Card. They have won 5 straight and sit only 5 games back with 21 left to play. Stranger things have happened.

I'm not much of a baseball fan, but I think they can actually get this done. All three of the teams ahead are struggling (Cards, Dodgers, Pirates) while the Phillies have lost only two series since the end of July.

I've felt this way for a long time, but only now is it really starting to finally take shape.

Well, a day after the Phils narrowed the cap to 5, it's now down to 4. Let's just have a one game playoff for the second wild card spot between the Phillies and the Brewers already. These are the only two teams that seem to be interested in the spot.

Fixed.

ESPN's % chance of the Phillies making the playoffs jumped from 1.5 to 3 just tonight. The way things have been going lately, those chances should be much higher.

The Phillies are hot at the right time. Kind of reminds me of the Cardinals last year.

I doubt I need to remind anyone here about that..

It is pretty unreal right now. Now suddenly just 3 games back of the second wild card spot. They won't even need 19 more games at this pace...

Odds are the Cards, Dodgers and/or Pirates will win a game here eventually, but they're in a combined 12 game losing streak and the Phils have won 6 straight. It's amazing to see.

lol Right on Mav.

The Phillies continue to roll. Lets see what the new guy Tyler Cloyd can do tonight. He's been ok so far and the Lastros should only help his cause.

Lets Go Phillies!

Well, the Phillies finally lost, but got it all back and then some last night as the Cards, Pirates and Brewers all lost combined with a Philly win.

So, 3 games out with 17 to play but now ahead of Milwaukee, tied with Pitt and 2 back of LA. I like their chances, especially if they beat the Astros twice more (which they should) and the Cards/Dodgers beat each other up. The deficit would then drop to at least 2 games if they split or the Dodgers win both.

Well, this bid to make the postseason appears to be over unless the Cards get swept by both the Nats and Reds while the Phillies win out...lol

It's been a heck of a run, but St. Louis just finally strung a bunch of wins together against inferior teams like the Cubs and Astros, while the Phillies somehow lost 3 of 4 to the Astros and that was the difference.
