Stop fucking around, Jeanmar.
Thanks to your stats on Ruf I was able to calculate his batting Average minus pinch hit at bats.Ruf is now 8-72 as a pinch hitter. Just do the guy a favor and release him so he can play first base/DH for the Rays or something and get regular playing time.
Yeah, the only thing I wonder about if he went to some AL team and became a first baseman/DH is if he is so bad at pinch hitting does that mean he would have a problem being a DH? I'm guessing he would be fine as long as he got his ABs every dayThanks to your stats on Ruf I was able to calculate his batting Average minus pinch hit at bats.
Believe it or nt his batting average is .272 in games he did not pinch hit. And that is including all his at bats
since he joined the Phillies1
You're right. Pinch hitting doesn't or shouldn't count. He's a major leaguer and shouldn't have to do that. Poor Ruf. I almost feel as bad for him as I do for Sam Bradford. Thanks to your stats on Ruf I was able to calculate his batting Average minus pinch hit at bats.

I never said it shouldn't count. He is not a good pinch hitter. He will never get a fair chance to play on a regularYou're right. Pinch hitting doesn't or shouldn't count. He's a major leaguer and shouldn't have to do that. Poor Ruf. I almost feel as bad for him as I do for Sam Bradford.
The book on Joseph says that his defense was poor as a catcher. The same has been said about his defense at 1st base. But they think he will improve with experience. Some believe that Josephs turn around at the plate is due to the fact that he lost 25 pounds while recovering from injuries. He has a quicker bat speed than before and is alsoI like the Salisbury article on calling up Tommy Joseph. The 1b platoon is a huge hole for the Phillies. Howard/Ruf are hitting .177/.164 and striking out at 37%/32% (holy shit, 37%?). This year at LV Joseph is .368/.391, striking out only 10% with 6 HR and 7 doubles in 25 games. In 7 injury riddled seasons in the minors Joseph is .253/.305/.421 and struck out 21%, not too shabby for a power guy. He also may not be a defensive liability vs Ruf.
