They must care to some extent because if I'm not mistaken they are the ones that filed the appeal to get our draft pick back this year.

Maybe Lou is getting soft in his old age.

Seriously in years past team coming out as flat as his teams have many many nights the last year and a half would be a coach canning certainty

Johnny Mac lasted a lot longer than he should have with the way the team played under him. Deboer is getting out of hand. I agree in years past coaches were out the door fast. Hell Lou has taken over late in seasons when we have had playoff spots clinched

With Henrique out, Zajac out, and Pete's dislike of Josefson there is a chance the Devils dress no centers.

Has there ever been a situation where a team plays with no centers before?

He's not the sole reason for this underachievement but he certainly is not helping matters. These blown leads, going into prevent defense, continuously coming out flat, the non-stop line juggling, favoring the vets over the young guys, I think his time is up here. He's simply not the right coach for this team anymore.

He coaches like an old person.

He is very slow to make adjustments to his routine. He's stubborn and ignores changes and trends. He also retreats back into his comfort zone (Bernier, Gionta, Harrold, etc) when facing adversity.

Hopefully he retires this week

I don't really blame him either he's doing the best with what he has. Still if lou is all about winning a coaching change has to be made just to try and look to fix it.

I really do believe no coach wants to come here.

Disagree on both counts cup.

As I've said before I don't think this team is a cup contender but they come out flat too often either at the beginning of games (Vancouver) or in a period. Lifeless, unprepared play IS the coaches fault. He is a good tactical coach but is certainly not one to inspire the troops and I think he's lost this crew.

Also I doubt there is an unemployed coach who wouldn't come here, which given some of the possibilities scares me a bit.

well you have to think that the run of "rookie" head coaches is pretty much done with lou.

suter/jmac and to some extent pdb with only 2 years prior experience.

so whoever he gets will have to be a veteran head coach. besides i dont think you could bring in a rookie coach to coach this team of 30+ year olds

Was hoping for Laviolette but that didn't happen. Just checked the standings and Nashville is doing really well right now.

Lavi is dumber than DeBoer. Not really interested.

Don't you guys still remember the Devs beating his Flyers in 2012?

I remember Laviolette winning a Cup in the first season of the "NEW NHL" and later taking a Flyers team to the final with Michael Leighton in net. I remember PDB losing a SCF and still having zero rings.

Lavi was left looking like an idiot against the Devils. He had no idea how to matchup against the Devils style and his whole team looked like the Oilers out there on the ice. He even complained afterwards about not knowing what to do against it.

He's still a better coach than PDB.
