Game Thread: Penguins GDT's/GNT's wk 4 (Oct 27-Nov 2)

Was sort of a disappointing week for the Pens, going 1-1-1, dropping games to both the Flyers and Red Wings. At the same time, we ended strong with a 3-0 shutout win over the Predators. Now on to week 4!

Coming up for the Pens this week are the following games,

Oct 28th: vs New Jersey Devils

Oct 30th: vs Los Angeles Kings

Nov 1st: vs Buffalo Sabres


Devils have started out the season rather well, with a 4-2-2 record, and they typically play us tough so we'll probably have our work cut out for us.

Kings are the defending Cup champs, really no need to say much more than that, really hope we could step up our game for this one.

Buffalo Sabres are without a doubt the easiest game set for the week, but beware those doughnut games.

Let's hope the Pens could raise their game and bounce back from a disappointing week 3.

That is very good to hear. Especially not needing to undergo chemo. Sure makes you think back to Mario's battle with Hodgkins back in the day, huh?

Doob's take: This is a team that usually gives us trouble. Their offense seems much improved from last season. Gonna have to withstand their forecheck so lots of pressure on our dmen. Let's hope we could build some momentum from the shutout win over the Nashville Predators and start a win streak. Doob picks the Pens to win 3-2.

This game looked dismal early in the second, but man, the Pens exploded.

Glad I benched Schneider in my fantasy league!

Also, both Comeau and Downie have looked pretty good as Penguins. Hopefully they keep up the good behavior, because they can be solid hockey players if they want to.

Terrible defense and goaltending from the Devils, guess we know why they kept Marty around for so long.

Talent-wise, Schneider is fine, but the Devils' young defense has been disappointing so far this season, and that simply does nothing to help a goaltender.

Wasn't paying attention until I just looked at the team stats but amazingly the Penguins have used the same 18 players every game so far. It is a shame how it will probably end with the Maatta surgery.

What a great win! Still tho, Geno at the point on power plays worries me. Also, MAF had some moments which sort of put us in a hole.

But other than that can't complain, heck even Adams & Downie scored!

I don't blame that early goal on Fleury because it was deflected off Letang's stick. Tough to give up the first shot on goal, but not necessarily his fault.

Even though it became irrelevant because the Pens scored 7 unanswered goals, I don't see how that goal wasn't awarded to Pittsburgh during that review. This could have cost the Pens the game, because if it had been awarded, that short-handed-goal by NJ would have been wiped out. Toronto F'd that review up, IMO.

Man, looks more and more like the Pens should have shipped Letang years ago before giving him that huge contract. He is horrible...most of the D is pretty bad, olli included

Honestly, I don't see it. I thought Letang has been excellent the entire season. What exactly is he bad at right now?
